Shit, I thought to myself. We haven't even gotten any decent weapons or armor yet. We haven't even started surviving.
Herobrine finally made a stop. I thought he was going to kill us, especially since he had his hand out, glowing. I backed up along with my friends.
"I warned you not to mess with my reality," he said. His voice was the same as it was at the press-conference, dark, low, deep, crackling like static. This form of him scared me more than his original form. "But you didn't listen. You chose to come onto my plain of reality. You chose to attempt to kill me. You gamers, you think you all are 'like a boss', but you're not! Your clueless human minds can't match the A.I. written by a computer!"
"What happened to our ability to escape the game?!" I demanded.
"I removed it, erased it. I removed your ability to come in and out. Now you can only come in. You're trapped . . ."
"How is that possible?" Eli asked, horrified.
"He coded us into the game!" Ethan realized. "He hacked the software! And he made the helmets . . . scan us?"
"He also collected the electrical activity of our brains," Natalie added.
"And he made us into A.I.s. He made each of our consciousness into nothing but codes . . ." I continued. "He made us apart of this world . . ."
"And he removed our ability to escape," Eli caught on.
"Exactly," Herobrine said. "And now I don't even need to hack to kill you permanently. I can just kill you upon this plain."
"What do you intend to do with us?" I asked, nervously.
"Well, I was going to kill you, but now I'm kind of curious how human intelligence acts as an A.I., after seeing how fast you caught on."
"You're going to . . . test us?" Natalie got creeped out saying that.
"I'm going to see how far you get. I coded you into this VR, virtual reality. I can now control the boundaries between my reality and the real world. If you end up getting far enough, killing the 3 bosses, The Elder Guardian, The Wither, and The Ender Dragon, in that order, then I'll break through the boundaries and let you back into your reality."
"What's the catch?" I knew there was a catch.
"There's a time limit. In 3 days, in real world time, is the deadline. Although, the day and night cycle in Minecraft will feel like twenty-four hours now that you're inside the game."
"You son of a bitch!" Natalie cried. "You fucken son of a bitch!"
"I am a fucken son of a bitch. I was created my Notch."
Herobrine glitched out of our plain of vision. Natalie started kneeling down and crying. I went over to her to comfort her.
"I'm sorry, Natalie, that I put you through this," I told her, slowly patting her on the back.
"It's okay," she said, wiping a tear from her face. "It's not your fault. I just . . . don't want to die."
"No, it is my fault. I was the one who let you come into this world." She wiped a tear from her face again. "Look, Natalie, I promise I'll get us beating all three bosses and getting out of here, okay?"
"Okay, Mitchell. It's really nice to know that you still care about me."
"You never have to worry about that."
"You two lovebirds done back there?" Eli teased.
"Yeah. Look, Natalie. The first step to getting home is surviving. Can you do that?"
"Yes, I can, Mitchell."
"Good. Now, let's put our Minecrafting skills to the test!"
