It felt like I had passed out, but this was only a much different experience. I opened my eyes, falling through an infinite void of blackness filled with starlight particles. As we fell, the gravity changed to make it feel like we were going up, and the space-like void reconfigured into a moon-like island.
"Where are we?" Natalie asked.
"The End," I told her.
I looked around. It didn't look or sound like the Ender Dragon was here. I was confused. "Where's the Ender Dragon?" Eli asked.
"I don't know."
I know, Steven answered. He's not here.
"Then, where is he?" I asked.
Dead. You'll have to resummon him.
"One problem, though, Steven! This is Minecraft 1.8.9!"
No, it's not! I hacked this server and updated it to 1.9. That's how duel-wielding showed up as a feature.
"Wow, awesome!" Eli said.
"But we need to craft Ender Crystals! How will we get those? We have glass, but only one Nether Star!"
I have that covered. I hacked your inventory to give you three more Nether Stars!
"Okay, but-"
Just summon the Ender Dragon already!
We got out a crafting table. I put in a few Nether Stars and surrounded it in glass. I got Ender Crystals. We went to the middle of the End, and surrounded the bedrock in Ender Crystals, except for one crystal that I held onto.
"Moment of truth, I guess," Eli told us.
"Look, Natalie . . . Eli . . . I'm sorry for everything."
"What are you talking about?"
"Yeah, you don't have to apologize for everything," Natalie told me.
"No, I do. Because of something I created, we all went through really fucked up stuff. Fear. Conflict. Challenge. Murder. We witnessed murder . . . I just, if we don't make it-"
"Don't say that, Mitchell!" Natalie said. "We're all getting out of here alive!"
"If we don't make it, I just wanted you both to know, that I'm sorry that I put you through this." Without letting them say something, I immediately placed down the last Ender Crystal, and the Ender Towers reconfigured. The beams created a bunch of codes, ones and zeroes, and a creature formed out of that. A dragon, the Ender Dragon. It kept getting healed by the crystals. .
"What's the plan?!" Eli asked.
"We fight!" me and Natalie both said, just wanting to get out of here. Me and Natalie started attacking it.
"No, seriously! What's the plan?!"
Natalie shot an arrow at it, but it immediately healed up. She kept shooting it, though. It got to the point where it docked in the middle of the End, where the bedrock was. Me and Eli charged in and kept slashing at it with our swords. We didn't do any damage. I couldn't believe it. I mean, in normal Minecraft, you would have to destroy the crystals, but I thought we became OP enough to kill the Dragon without destroying the crystals. It flapped its wings, giving off a pressure wave that knocked us to the ground. My ears buzzed from the sound wave, and I struggled to get up. I guess that was one of the many modifications to the game. I felt like I was about to pass out. So, this was really how it was gonna end, huh? Well, at least I died doing something . . . I looked at Eli and Natalie. They were in the same boat as me. I was so tired. I felt my eyelids get really heavy. I almost gave up, until I saw a stream of the Dragon's purple fire streaming at my friends! No! I won't let them die! I immediately forced myself to get up, and I got in front of the stream, dodging the "bullet" so Natalie and Eli could live. I saw my HP slowly go down. Natalie and Eli got up, realizing what I was doing.
"Mitchell!" Natalie cried. "Get out of the stream, you idiot! You're gonna die! You can't just let yourself die because of us!"
"You're wrong! I can't just stand by and do nothing! I have to keep you guys alive, no matter what-"
"You're not keeping me alive!" she told me. "I love you! I would rather kill myself than live in a world without you!"
I thought about her words. I saw my HP go down to one heart, and I got out of the way of the stream, eating a Notch Apple. I threw Notch Apples at Natalie and Eli, and then I threw my diamond sword at the dragon. It took a large amount of damage, but it healed instantly. It flew up into the air to seek out the crystals. I told Natalie and Eli the plan.
"Okay, look, guys! We may think we're OP enough to finish this easily, but we're not! We have to accept that! But that doesn't mean we can't kill it!"
"Did you see how much it healed in the littlest amount of time?" Eli said. "We can't beat it!"
"Yes, we can! The Minecraft VR didn't only modify the graphics, but the game entirely! If we use that to our advantage, we are sure to win this battle!"
I told them everything. I told them my plan. "Got it?" I asked them. They nodded in agreement. "Good. Let's do this!" Natalie shot the crystal that the Dragon was at. It did damage, making the Dragon give off a horrifying screech. It flew toward another crystal. It didn't have time to get healed, though. Eli charged up his sword enough to fly toward the crystal, blowing it up. The Dragon took more damage. It flew toward the next one, and I did the same thing. Only I didn't only destroy the crystal. I also climbed onto it as it took damage, jabbing my sword into its neck. It gave off the demon-like screech again. At this point, it was almost like bull riding. It managed to jerk its head enough to get my sword out, but I charged my sword fully and jabbed it into its neck again. It took a lot of damage this time. It tried to fly toward another crystal, but I twisted my sword to steer it away. In pain, it turned. Every time it tried to go near an Ender Crystal, I steered it away, which also made it take damage. It refused to go to the bedrock, though. I suppose it knew that it was the only place it could die, the bedrock. Then, I took my sword out, recharged the sword's energy, and jabbed it into the Dragon's neck again. After a while, I did that again. And again. And again. And again. And again, the process was repetitive. It took a good amount of damage. Finally, I got it into the middle. The bedrock. Now was my chance! As it landed, I jabbed my fully-charged sword into its neck again. And I let the gravity pull me down, slicing down its back. It screeched. Trying to get away from the middle. Finally, I ended the slicing at the end of its tail. It converted into starlight particles. Then into codes, ones and zeros. Then into levels of experience. It was over. We're gonna go back to the real world . . . Wait! Why haven't we woken up yet?
