After I got Miguel back, my life returned to the same old routine it has always been: eat, sleep, Max, work, and Miguel. Max and I have been joined at the hip a lot more than we used to though. I guess I realized how much he means to me after he went through what he did to get Miguel safely in my arms again.

I tried texting Tristan, I tried calling Tristan, I even tried visiting the apartment he has, only to find the door blocked off with bright yellow police tape. The message was received, loudly and clearly: he wanted nothing to do with me. I can't even be mad, because it's all my fault.

I took the same mode of transportation from work that I did to, which was walking. Personally, I was getting so out of shape so I decided I'd be walking to and from work from now on. It wasn't so bad, seeing as my job was only two and a half miles away from my apartment, well my set job at least. I still moonlighted for celebrities from time to time when I wasn't using most of my free time developing my brushes and hopefully in the future, an entire makeup company. The line of face creams I released were doing much better than I had planned.

Max had some sort of business event to attend, his father was naming the new CEO of the company. He was hoping his father would name him in favor of his older brother and the current CFO. Of course I was asked to come and I agreed, I could probably find myself a husband.

"Steel gray, Navy, or this black satin one?" Max asked referring to his suits.

"The black one, it's most you and it's giving me serious Cristiano Ronaldo 2013 Ballon D'Or feels."

"Thanks." He said hanging the other two suits back up. "Did you ever grow a pair and apologize to Tristan?"

"I tried he won't answer my calls or texts." I answered. The only place I haven't tried is waiting at the coffee shop we met at. I doubt he still goes since he can afford billion dollar coffee now. "Should I just move on?"

"Maybe, I can't tell you what's right for you. Whatever makes you happiest. Can you imagine yourself being happy without Tristan in your life?"

I've had a whole year of practice.

"Yeah, I think so."

"Then he may not be the one. But what do I know about love? I just like to fûck."

"You know more than me, tell me more about this mystery girl you're infatuated with."

"You ask me this everyday. I'm not telling you. It doesn't matter anyways, I'm friend zoned, she interested in someone else."

"You never know! She could be interested in you and just not show it because she afraid. And let's just be real here, you don't exactly have the best track record when it comes to women."

"She's not interested Val."

Never have I seen Max act like this, usually he was so confident, besides what does he have to worry about? Who would turn him down?

"You don't know until you tell her. Don't let her be the one that got away."

"Trust me, she's not interested."

"Oh come on, she has to be."

He sighed deeply and turned to face me, "I'm done talking about this with you. Either you change the subject or get out."

Well damn.

"Okay, I'm sorry."

I am still determined to figure out who this woman it, I'll just have to adjust my tactics.

"I'm so glad all of you could make it today." Max's father began.

We were at the company event where he would be announcing his retirement and hopefully choosing Max to be his successor. Max gripped my hand tightly for comfort, I knew he was quite nervous.
