It was a snowy winter day. It was the day where all the elves and reindeer would get their knickers in a twist over the coming holiday.
Rudy yawned and lied down on his bed. He was bored out of his mind.
"Comet's out doin' deliveries with Santa, so it's not like I can talk to anyone," Rudy said to himself.
All the games Santa let Rudy have SUCKED. They were just cheap rip off versions of all the good games he couldn't have. Plus, all the toys Rudy was given were made by the weird Chinese elf that lived in the basement. All the toys were liable to break, sure, but not as fast as this guy's. What's his problem?
There was a knock on the door. "Come on in," Rudy called with a tired tone.
Comet walked in with a limp, looking pained.
"Comet, what happened??" Rudy helped Comet over to his bed.
"Nothin' too serious, kiddo, I just sprained my ankle, it'll get better in a couple days."
"But, Comet! That means you won't get to make deliveries this year!" Rudy said to Comet with a sad look in his eyes.
"That's okay, Rudy!" Comet ruffled Rudy's hair. "I would rather spend time at home with my lil buddy anyway!"
Rudy's nose glowed a brighter red, which was his way of blushing.
Comet had taken Rudy under his wing when his parents abandoned him. Rudy had always trusted Comet, right from the very start. He was the only other reindeer that didn't shun him for his nose. Comet always thought it was kinda cute.
"Hehe, there goes that nose o' yers again!" Comet found himself blushing.
Rudy hugged Comet and closed his eyes.
I love you, Comet... But I just don't have the courage to tell you yet.
"Can I get you anything?" Rudy asked.
Comet shook his head. "Nah, I'm good, kiddo. I just need to rest a bit. I'll holler if I need anything. Okay?"
Rudy shuffled his feet. "Comet... Can I sleep with you tonight?"
Comet blushed again. "How come, kiddo?"
"I... I just don't wanna be alone."
Wow, that was the worst excuse you coulda come up with, Rudy!
Comet just smiled. "Yeah, sure! Just watch my leg."
Rudy was surprised at Comet's response. It was totally unexpected.
Rudy got in the bed with Comet and cuddled close to him. "Good night, Comet."
Comet smiled and kissed Rudy on the forehead. "G'night, kiddo."
