Together Against All Odds

Chapter 15- Breakfast

"Wait so this is day 15 of being full time mother/fiance?" Johanna asks as she gulps down the orange juice I made prior to her coming over for breakfast. 

"Yeah, it's crazy I know" I tell her chuckling as I continue to mix the blueberry pancake mix. 

"Has Princess P driven you crazy, yet?" She asks narrowing her eyes at me as if to search my soul for the truth. 

"I have to admit.. having to wake up at 3AM in the morning to breastfeed her isn't my absolute favorite part of the day. And I also know it's been such a small amount of time, but I love being her mother; I wouldn't give it up for anything in the world." I tell her as I smile up at her. 

"I'm so happy to hear that, almost makes me want to settle down" She sighs as she stuffs scrambled eggs into her mouth. 

"I really do hope you settle down soon, all that's left is that Penelope and your kids have play dates together." I tease as I put a small stack of pancakes on her plate. 

"Thank you." She mouths as she loudly inhales the smell of the amazing breakfast delicacy.

"No problemo, Peeta should be down any moment so I'm gonna run upstairs and get Penelope" I tell her as I wipe some pancake batter off my apron. 

"Take your time, I'll keep a close eye on the pancakes"Johanna winks as I head out the kitchen.

"Hey babygirl" I whisper as I look down at Penelope who's eyes are just opening. Penelope smiles and starts happily gurgling as she sees me reach down to pick her up. 

"Cone on little mama, let's get you downstairs with auntie JO and daddy" I tell her as she lays her head on my shoulder.

"Hey there pumpkin!" Johanna shrieks when she sees Penelope, which only seems to excite P even more. 

"Let's set you down right here, how about that P?" I ask her in my pitchy high voice which I tend to talk to Penelope in. 

"Oh hey there Johanna, I forgot you'd be joining us for breakfast today.." Peeta says as he clearly forgot since he walks into the kitchen with only his pajama pants on. 

"Hiya there Pete" Johanna says as her eyes bugle out of her head and she waves at Peeta. 

"Good morning, beautiful" Peeta smiles as he comes over to Penelope and I. 

"Morning" I smile as he leans in to kiss me.

"There's my princess" Peeta smiles as I hear Penelope shriek and laugh as Peeta tickles her. 

"Might wanna throw on a shirt before you eat" I say over my shoulder as I serve Peeta his food.

"Oh please, don't let me be the reason you do, I do enjoy eating with a view" Johanna laughs as she teases. 

"Haha" I laugh sarcastically as I roll my eyes and hand Peeta his plate of food. 

"For the past eight years the only view I've had is Kat's ass" Johanna says as she serves herself more orange juice. 

"I'd have absolutely no problem with that" Peeta chimes in as he digs into his plate. 

"Hey! Did you two perhaps forget that there is a 15 days old baby present?" I laugh as I sit down next to Penelope's baby feeding chair.

"Johanna have you ever taken care of children?" Peeta asks Johanna after a few minutes of chewing. 

"Does babysitting Prim when she was eleven count?" Johanna shrugs. 

"Where is this going?" I ask Peeta. 

"Well, I set up a date for us tonight and your mother has a shift at the hospital. And Prim is out of the city because she has exams, so I was just wondering if Johanna would care to babysit Penelope." Peeta explains. 

"Oh of course! I went to all those mothering classes with Katniss, it'll finally pay off!"

"Are you sure, Johanna? Peeta can cancel if you don't want to" I tell her as wipe some slobber off Penelope. 

"Yeah of course, it's time you guys got working on baby #2" Johanna winks at Peeta slyly. 

"First of all, I saw that. Second, gross I literally gave birth two weeks ago" I tell her as pretend to be disgusted. 

"I read an article that says most woman only wait four days before they get it on again" Johanna says as she shrugs. 

"SO many disturbing thoughts running through my head, it's not okay. How do you even manage to have sex when you have a newborn to look after?!" I say as I slap my forehead. 

"Unwanted pictures are popping up in my mind, gross. Yeah, I'm out I'll be back round four to take care of this angel"Johanna smiles as she showers Penelope in a million butterfly kisses. 

"We'll be here" I smile as I walk her out.

"So where are you taking me?" I ask Peeta as I walk back into the kitchen and hug him from behind. 

"One code word: bikini" Peeta winks as he turns in his seat to face me and wrap his arms around my hips. 

"Hm, I'm excited already" I say as I lean down to kiss him. 

"You'll definitely enjoy yourself, I'm sure" Peeta mutters in between the kiss. He then stands up, hoist me up onto the counter, and resumes working his magic with his lips on mine. 

"Peeta... Peeta" I moan as I pull away from him. 

"Yes?" He hesitantly responds. 

"You do realize we just made out in front of our daughter right?"

Peeta then burst into laughter and buries his head in my chest which somewhat muffles the echo of his laughter. 

"P's asleep, I'm sure she didn't even notice" I whisper hushing him as he may wake her up. 

"Then there's no fault in continuing, now is there?" He smirks as he pulls me to him and kisses me.
