Together Against All Odds

Chapter 13- Penelope

"Let me see it!" Johanna ooh's as she refers to my engagement ring. 

Soon after that day at the lakeside restaurant Peeta proposed. After having an early dinner at my favorite restaurant in town which is a small Italian kitchen house, he drove me out to a meadow as the sun was setting. After having a walk around, he proposed in midst the sunset and a gardenia of wild flowers.

"Johanna, I've shown it to you a million times" I laugh as I extend my hand out to show her. 

"I know, I know but it's so god damn gorgeous" She awes as I show her the ring for the one millionth time. 

"Well in a few months after I have this baby, lose all of my baby fat, and she's about  a year old: we'll get married." I tell her as I look down at my huge belly. 

Those two months raced by quickly and I'm now finally eight months into pregnancy. In a short months I'll finally have my baby girl in my arms. 

"Oh please, knowing you, you'll bounce back to your normal body seconds after popping the little monster out of you."

"I read an article that says it takes a few months to bounce back which is horrible for me since it'll be the first time Peeta sees me while not being knocked up." I tell her as take a sip of my hot cocoa. 

"You realize that you'll finally be able to have sex with him, unless you've had sex with him while pregnant. OH MY GOD, HAVE YOU!?" She asks ecstatically.

"GOD NO I HAVEN'T I WOULDN'T EVER HAVE SEX WHILE HAVING A HUMAN BEING INSIDE OF ME!" I respond as I try my hardest not to image it in my mind. 

"Wow, he's known you for nine months and hasn't gone down on you, props to Peeta Mellark." She says as she gives him a small round of applause. 

"Sometimes I desperately worry whether you need mental help or something." I joke as she rolls her eyes. 

"ANYWAYS, where is Peeta that you needed my company?" 

"He has a job you know? And can I not just want to spend a day with my best friend?"

"Well you're usually with him doing baby stuff" 

I then feel that ting in my lower womb which burns every half hour. I wince as the pain starts to grow immensely.

"Katniss, what's wrong?" Johanna asks worriedly suddenly rushing to my side. 

"It's nothing" I say as I try to avoid the pain. 

"Well it's obviously something if you're grimacing of pain, brainless" She says as she lays a hand on my leg. 

"This isn't normal, I'm scared" I tell her as another pang of tinging pain hits me. 

"Tell me, what're you feeling?" 

"It's like something is hitting me on the lower part of my womb. It burns and comes around about every half hour" I explain to her as I hold a tight grip on her arm. I see her slightly flinch from how hard I'm clinging onto her. She lowers her eyes to the floor and furrows her eyebrows to the ground as if she's thinking deeply about something. Suddenly I see a light-bulb go off in her eyes and she screams, 

"YOU'RE HAVING CONTRACTIONS! YOU'RE GOING INTO LABOR!" 

"NO IT'S NOT POSSIBLE, IT'S TOO EARLY! I'M NOT DUE FOR ANOTHER MONTH!" I yell back at her in angst. 

"STOP SCREAMING AT ME KATNISS!" Johanna screams at me. 

"YOU STARTED SCREAM FIRST!"I yell back realizing we sound like complete idiots.
