Johanna stayed with us for weeks before she could go a night without waking up screaming from her nightly terrors, only being calmed by Peeta, I, or Penelope's warmth. I couldn't look Finnick in the eyes without a feeling of disgust in the very back of my throat. I looked at Annie and felt envy. Not for myself, but for Johanna whom had loved Finnick her entire life and will never have the chance to have him. I know better then to blame her, but I do. It's wrong, I know but she must've known Johanna's love for Finnick. Anyone with two sets of eyes could've seen how much she loved him. Day by day I'd see Johanna fight demons within her own head, and it'd kill me that I could do nothing but try and comfort her.

One night, we heard Johanna's piercing screams coming from so deep inside her that it literally hurt. Peeta and I ran to her room only to find it empty. It was until we went downstairs that we realized Johanna was in the small meadow behind Peeta's house that we saw Johanna with an ax in her blood drenched hands going at it and massacring a tree. When we approached her, her tear stained face was lit by the moonlight. It took Peeta throwing her over his shoulder to get her to leave the tree behind which she had failed to timber down.  The next morning she buried the ax right next to the tree she had been trying to cut down, telling us Finnick has gifted it to her so many years ago. And day after day, she'd go back to the tree and water it, sing to it even, her own way of attempting to nurse it back to the way it once was.

After that night, I slept with Johanna. I held her when she cried, I helped her get out of bed on the days where there was no hope in her eyes. Slowly but surely, Johanna came back to life. Began to accept the reality of life and even assured Peeta and I that she was ready to go back to her apartment. Before she went back Peeta and I hired someone to clean up the place and even remodel it a bit just so she felt like she was on to new beginnings.
