Saturday, Sunny

The moon was bright as it lit the ball room through a window. Gwen was just absolutely dazzling in that sky blue dress that she got last Sunday. I was in my regular tuxedo and we just stood there before the crowd. I was looking around for my gang of friends, when a familiar arm slung itslf around my neck. It was just Adam.

"Dude, I can literally see your heart smiling," said Adam. "Calm down dude, your soul, right now, is practically dancing with happiness," said Johnathan as he walked in with his date for prom. I held Gwen's hand in mine and walked wherever she went, but something tells me that she was a little nervous and embarassed for some reason. I could feel the whole crowd in this very room, staring at us, not in hate, but in astonishment. Gwen was very popular in school and I wasn't really the big shot. So, they must be surprised why she came to prom with me.

Suddenly, Gwen spoke it was surprising, because for the whole time, she just kept quiet and walked with me. I was worried something was wrong. "I don't like the attention, James," said Gwen. She was a little embarassed about how she is suddenly getting too much attention. The music started playing and I could see couples standing up and going down to the middle of the ball room, getting ready to dance.

Gwen didn't like the attention, so I lead her out of room, and into the garden outside of the ball room. We could clearly hear the music from inside playing, Gwen just stared at me. She was acting strange compared to usual. It was almost as if she wanted to tell me something. Something important.

I held her arms and kept quiet, we had a slow dance, where silence polluted the space between us. Gwen was the first to try to break the silence. "I'm...I'm...nervous, James," said Gwen. "I don't know if I should say what I want to." I just stared into her eyes and gently leaned my head near her. "Say anything that you'd like, Gwen, when I'm around, you have the freedom to do anything you desire,'?" I replied.

I could see her trying to smile, but I think what she wants to say must be important, because the smile quickly faded after a few seconds. It was cold that night, an owl was standing on a tree not far away from us. Gwen still looked worried and I was starting to get annoyed with that look. So, I decided to do something to cheer her up.

I hugged her in the middle of our dance. It may not be the nicest way to cheer someone up, but that's the best option I had. Suddenly, Gwen burst into tears. "I'm...I'm....scared, that something might change if I say what I wanted," said Gwen as she sobbed. I hugged her tighter and gave a gentle kiss on the forehead. After that, we both sat down and she leaned on my shoulder.I put my arms around her and talked to her about the stars. She doesn't know much about astrology, so I decided to explain whatever that interested her.

Soon later, I brought her back into the ball room, where they will announce the prom king and queen. We had to take a vote. So, Gwen voted for Samantha and Johnathan, whilst I voted for Adam and Jessica. We all didn't know who would win, but Gwen and I were very happy with whatever that happened between us tonight. Prom dragged me closer to Gwen.

They announced the prom king and queen a moment later. To the odds, Gwen and I were crowned prom king and queen. Later, we were on the stage and literally crowned. The crowd cheered and I could feel Gwen's grip tightening on my hand. I blushed and heard the crowd screaming. "KISS!" "KISS!" "KISS!" I could see Gwen trying to leave the stage as soon as possible. So, I gave her a piggy-back back home. The crowd went wild as we left the stage.

We had a nice long conversation as we walked home. Gwen seemed to have calmed down after our talk about the stars. She looked at me when we were at her doorstep. "James, I...I..." Said Gwen. But we were interrupted by Gwen's mother who just came back from the grocery store. Gwen's mother walked right into the house and Gwen left a kiss on my nose and left with her mother.

I was left alone and decided to run home in my tuxedo. What did she want to say to me? What came across her mind this prom? What was so intense that made her cry? A million questions popped into my mind. I was curious and worried for her.

She was my everything.
