As I'm getting into the car to go to the police station with Carter, I'm thinking to myself, what am I suppose to say to the man who tried to kill me and take everything important away from me?
How could a father do this?
Carter grabs my hand and we walk into the police station together. I can feel my hands shaking like a miniature earth quake happening.
"it's going to be okay babe." Carter whispers in my ear.
I smile a weak smile.
"Hi I'm Carter Ryan, you told me that my girlfriend's father was arrested here."
"Hi Mr.Ryan. Please follow me." The nice police officer says, "You are?"
"My name is Anchor. He's my dad. Carter is my boyfriend."
"Very nice to meet you." he smiles,"Right in here. If you could identify him for us we can get the paperwork started for his lockup."
"Okay." I say.
He presses down on the call button, "Send the first group of men in please."
The first group of 7 men walk in holding card numbers.
"Are any of these the men you're father?"
"No." I say.
"Send in the next group please," then a group of another 7 men come in, "These?"
I look closely.
I look at each man very carefully.
"number 6." I say.
I squeeze Carter's hand tighter.
"You're sure?" The police officer says.
"100%" I say looking him straight in the eye.
"Number 6 step forward please," he steps forward, "state your name please"
"Steven Taylor."
"thats him." I say shaking.
"Thank you Anchor, for coming down here to identify him. I know this must be extremely hard considering everything you have been through." He says with a small genuine smile.
"Thank you so much." I say.
"So what happens next?" Carter asks.
"A long process to put evidence together for domestic violence charges and we have to get a court date."
"And until then?" I say.
"Your father will be held in a holding cell." he explains.
"He can't hurt you anymore Anchor." The police man says with a weak smile.
"Thank you so much." I say.
"Thank you." Carter says shaking his hand.
I've been through a lot this past year and a half.
I've felt so broken and so lost in my own skin.
Carter has helped me overcome and realize that I'm stronger than the shit that's tried to tear me down. He's my rock. He's my right hand, my go to.
Carter is my home. I know we say that about each other a lot; but, it's true.
I've known Carter for almost 7 years and we've been through so much, I've felt every single emotion, every single feeling, I get butterflies when I'm around him. Everything about Carter makes me so intrigued and so interested in what's to come. He makes everything okay and he makes it so I know that whatever happens, happens as Anchor and Carter.

CARTER'S POVThe things that I've gone through with Anchor I never imagined would happen. I never thought that on year 7 we would be where we are right now.
So much has changed, but for the better.
7 years ago when I first laid eyes on Anchor I couldn't have told you that we would have moved out/moved states, started college, gone to a police station, been in the hospital for 4 weeks, and be in Michigan.
A lot has happened and it's been crazy, but a good crazy. It's made me realize that Anchor and I can get through anything together because we already have.
I never knew how strong Anchor is until the stuff with her dad happened, I never knew how passionate she is about life and about love. I never knew that Anchor would change my life for the better.
After my mom died my world came down. I lost not only a mom, but I lost my #1 supporter, the one who comforted me when things weren't going right, I lost the person I depended on most. When Anchor came into my life I knew she was special. I didn't know that she would become all of those things that my mom was to me.
When I say Anchor is my home I mean it. She's everything to me. I can't imagine life without her. She makes everything okay
