Chapter 23

He swore. I swore.
"Guys, you gonna hug and kiss now?" George sauntered towards us. "Hey Luce." I glared and sort of smiled at George.
"Hey." I turned back to Lockwood, who hadn't moved since seeing Kipps and me.
Talk about timing.
"What are you doing with him?" He stared at me. My heart literally broke. Well, froze.
I gasped as the limbless ran through me. Lockwood screamed something and rushed to me. I didn't hear. George swiped over my head.
Everything was in slow motion.
Everything was fuzzy.
I was so cold. So cold.
Lockwood had me in his arms.
I screamed in pain as it flared again and my vision grew black around the edges. I was going to be knocked unconscious by the pain.
"No!" Lockwood shouted and slammed a whole packet of salt onto the wound the ghost-touch had created.
I screamed in agony as the excruciating feeling flared so much my vision went black for five seconds. I cursed Lockwood out loud and he gripped my arms, making me look at him. I hoped he could see the rage I had for him at that moment.
"Luce, I know it hurts but it's the only way to stop you from dying." He explained desperately.
"Why? Why would you put me in so much pain Lockwood?" I moaned. "I thought you were my friend!" I started crying from the pain. "Just kill me!"
"Lucy no!" He shook me. "Lucy, you've got to fight it! You can't die!"
"Why not?" I shouted.
"Because I love you!" He cried. Tears poured down his face. "I love you Luce. You can't leave me." He said in a quieter voice.
Lockwood kissed me. I mean, really kissed me. His body pressed mine to the floor and I had to push him away to breath. But who cares? I'm going to die anyway. I pulled him back to me.
"Don't leave me," he whispered in my ear.
"If you want her to not die, give her to me." Jessica rolled her eyes as she materialised in front of us. "Because, she's probably got like five seconds to live."
I coughed and blood dribbled down my lip.
"No!" Lockwood screamed.
The black that clouded my vision didn't go away this time.
I was slipping away.
