We reached the abandoned hospital just after 4:00. That would give us two hours to set up. Since it was winter, nights came earlier.
"Lockwood, I don't know about this." George grumbled. "I hardly had any time to research this place."
"Yes, well Jessica can obviously tell us all we need to know, can't she?" Lockwood snapped. Then he breathed in deeply, controlling himself. "Sorry, George. I'm just edgy, that's all."
I paid the taxi driver and he pulled away.
We made our way inside, Lockwood having to force the door open. I could just make out the reception desk under all the dust and debry. The lights seemed like they had died years ago, with only the slanted light coming from the crooked windows to illuminate the building.
"This place gives the creeps." George whispered.
"Uh huh." I agreed, placing a hand on my rapier for comfort. "I can sense something strong here."
"Right." Lockwood said. "Today we're just gonna look. It doesn't matter what might happen. We can always come back. So no wandering off. We stick together."
Lockwood placed his duffel bag down on the desk. We created an iron circle with our chains and began. As Lockwood and I stocked our belts up with iron filings, salt bombs and Magnesium Flares, George poured everyone cups of tea and tossed packets of gum to both of us.
"She should be here by now." Lockwood mumbled.
"It's still light." I said. "She probably won't be here for a while." Lockwood huffed.
"I wish we weren't putting so much trust in her. How do we know if she'll even show up?"
"Oh, so your gonna lecture me on showing up?" There was a cold breeze as Jessica appeared out of thin air. "Who's the one that died because the other didn't show up?" She glared at Lockwood and her eyes flashed.
"Jess..." I said, trying to get control of the situation. "Please."
I managed to calm her down. At least for now.
"Your right. We've got bigger problems." She glared at Lockwood. "I know you hate it, but you have to trust me if your going to get out of here alive."
