Chapter Twenty-One
“Shot?” I said in shock.
“Yes he’s in hospital I think you should see him”.
I was so shocked I just hung up.
“What’s wrong?” Jerome asked. I didn’t reply. I just stared into the gaze. I had to think if this was real or not. Just when things started getting better.
“Melissa…” Jerome said snapping me out of the gaze.
“What man!” I snapped.
“Whoa sorry for being concerned” he replied. I just cut my eye at Jerome and then walked out of the room. Carla was right next to the door.
“What are you doing?” I asked her.
“What do you mean?” she asked.
“Why you next to the door for. Like your listening to our conversation”
“I wasn’t I just was about to tell you something but you came out the door”
“Well you found me. What is it?”
“Well…” she started to say but then Jerome came out the bedroom.
“What’s going on here” he asked.
“Nothing man. Can’t my sister tell me something?” I sarcastically asked back.
“No she can’t” I snapped back.
“Why is everything leaving me into suspense for. First Ricardo, then you and now Carla. Do you know right now I can’t even deal with that. Carla… Danny has been shot…”
“WHAT!” she screamed.
“Is that what happened?” Jerome asked.
“Yes. I am really not in the fxcking mood for none of this. So can we just go to the hospital to check him to see if he’s okay”
“Yeah I’ll drive” Jerome offered.
“Thank you”
So we all went out the door and I had to lock up with Jerome’s key cause I had it. Before Everyone was in the car by time I walked down the flat stairs. Jerome came out the car before I got in there.
“You know I love you right. For ever right.” he said.
“Yeah but we ain’t got time for this Jerome” I replied.
“I just want you to know. You can get mad with me when ever just like you did in the room but my love for you will never change…” he said looking me in the eye. I nodded and he kissed my forehead and then opened the door so I can get inside.
