Chapter 12

We walked in and sat down on the couch. She brought us some tea, and we sipped in silence for about 5 minutes. "Mom." Tyler said. She looked around the room and a tear escaped her eye. "I have cancer." She replied. I dropped my mug and it was the only noise we heard for ten seconds after those words came out of her mouth. "It is colon cancer to be exact."
Tyler cupped his face in his hands and Jackie came over and hugged him. While that was happening I remembered in Tyler's documentary 'snervous' he talked about how his mom was the only person who understood him. And it led me to think about my mom and how much I took her for granted. I then joined the water works party and hugged both of them. Brentleigh and Shane kind of kept to theirselves.
*one week later*
It was the day of Jackies surgery and we were all very relieved that they could cure her cancer.
Tyler woke me up to a kiss on the lips. I jumped up and threw on some leggings with Tyler's hoodie and some grey vans.
We arrived to the hospital and checked Jackie in and then it all began. They goodbye kisses and hugs. The ones where you don't wanna let go.
I knew them all too well because my grandmother passed away from
Colon cancer. She was awful and the whole time I was praying that this wouldn't happen to Jackie.
We got to play the waiting game for a few hours just reminiscing about the old days.
Then I say the doctor come out, running to find us. We stood up and Tyler's hand intertwined into mine. "Oakley?" He asked. "Yea" Tyler replied. The doctor looked at us and told us...
