~Nine Years Later~
Himeko's Pov
"Stefan, hurry! We'll be late!" I told my butler as he manned the carriage.
Just days ago, I received a letter inviting me to a ball. A vampiric ball. I was thinking of not coming but I found out that it was the Vampire King who sent it. Lucky me... If I were to decline his invitation, it would mean disgracing the demonic royalty. We wouldn't want that. I had no choice but to attend.
"Ojou-chan, are you excited about the ball?" Carmen, my human maid, asked. She seemed very eager about the ball especially now that she was able to come along.
Looking out the window, I rested my chin on my hand and sighed. "I hate it"
As much as I dislike upsetting Carmen, I dislike socializing with rich snobs more.
"My Lady, there's no need to be like that. I know that everyone attending will love you. It would be such a shame if my efforts would go to waste" she chided. It was true. She did put a lot of effort on dolling me up. The dress was beautiful but I'm not worthy of her talents. She could do so much more with her skill set.
The carriage then came to a stop and Stefan opened the doors.
"Ojou-chan, we have arrived" Stefan said with a slight bow, his blue hair covering his blood red eyes. I inhaled a deep breath.
"Finally... The sooner we finish this, the sooner I can go home" I said stepping out of the carriage and taking Stefan's hand.
As I entered the ballroom, whispers erupted from every corner. I can tell that I'm the current gossip. Everyone was taking a guess at who's daughter I am and which family I belong to...

I heard a chuckle from behind. "What is it, Stefan?"
"Nothing, m'lady. Just amused to see that you're the jewel of the ball" he said with a hidden smirk.
"Please... They just want to know if I'm powerful. Then they'll attempt to befriend me. Though the friendship be false, it does contribute to many business deals and negotiations." I said having already memorized the routine.
"That may be true, my Lady. After all, you are famous... But it won't hurt to make a few friends" he said more seriously. I was about to retort when the announcer came in.
"Ladies and Gentleman, may I have your attention"
Every vampire in the room silenced.
"Thank you for coming to tonight's event especially with all your busy schedules. To appreciate your presence and to welcome all of you, may I present his royal highness, Karl Heinz the Vampire King, our host for this evening"
