Laylee's POV
Groaning, I sat up and looked around.
I was in a cage.
I remembered everything, but at the moment I didn't care. I didn't care that I was kidnapped. Or that I was all scraped up and bruised. What I cared about was fast asleep in the corner, curled into a ball. I gasped when I saw the bruises that seemed to interlock with each other. Crawling over, I scooped the limp body into my arms and sobbed.
"Oh, Misabelle, waht have they done to you? I'm so sorry."
She woke up and shrieked, pushing me away and curling into a protective ball. Her eyes looked me over and then she gasped and clung to me. "No, no, no! This is not good!"
"Don't worry, we'll get out of here. The boys should be here soon."
Her sky-blue eyes filled up with tears and she shook her head sadly. "If they haven't found us yet, they probably never will."
"What do you mean? Misabelle, how long have I been out?"
"Four, almost five, months..."
I gasped. She was right. After this much time and still no rescue, it's true that we might never be saved. I started to shake in fear and Misabelle gripped me tighter. We broke apart when we heard footsteps up above us.
"Listen to me, Laylee, and don't you dare freak out. You're pregnant. So congrats and all that, but the point I'm trying to make is that you can't let them hurt you or you might lose the babe. I will protect you as much as I can, but they cannot know about your condition, okay?"
"I'm- I'm pregnant?" I looked down and noticed a slight baby bump popping out between my hips and rested my hand atop it. Then my head snapped up to look my best friend in the eye. "We have to get out of here. What will they do to it if we don't? Oh god, I don't think I could live after that."
"Don't talk like that."
"But it's true. I can't." I sobbed and clutched my stomach, protecting my baby. Jace's baby. "Misabelle, what about Jace? I'll never be able to tell him... He doesn't even know..."
"Shh, baby girl, we'll get out. But we'll have to do it on our own."
I nodded, willing to do anything to save the innocent life inside me. The basement door creaked open and Misabelle pushed me back to where I was before and motioned for me to pretend to be knocked out still. I prayed that this would work and the rogue wouldn't come in to hurt us, but it didn't.
"Alpha, she's awake!" The guttural voice bellowed from in front of the cage and then the rogue nudged my side with his shoe. "Get up girl."
I sat up, keeping my head down and curling into a ball to hide my stomach. "They'll find us. Our mates will find us."
"Oh how naive are they at first."
My head shot up at the familiar voice and I gasped. "Uncle Aiden?"
"Hello my dear Laylee. Suprised?"
"What- what's going on? Why are you here?"
"You see, your father is my twin brother, but he was the child that didn't receive the werewolf gene, so he's human. Then he went and married a human, therefore, both you and Noah exist. However, Father wasn't pleased that my brother had completely disowned his werewolf family to raise his children like a normal human family would, so Father would take his anger out on me by beating me. Finally, I ran away and became rogue."
"I'm so sorry-"
"I'M NOT DONE!" He took a deep breath and leaned against the wall opposite me. "I hired these idiots to help me destroy your father and mother. They went against my orders though, and kidnapped your friend, and in the next attack they kidnapped you. I'm pretty sure that they were orders from my Beta. He seems to have some sort of vendetta with the Blakely brothers."
"Why can't you just let us go then?"
He laughed humorlessly at my question and started pacing in front of the cage. He might've kidnapped me but I felt safe with him here. Obviously his beta didn't like us. We were just bait to him; his toys to lure in our mates before killing us. Or something similar. It must be a revenge tactic for both Jace and Caine.
I shook my head to clear my thoughts and refocused on my uncle who had stopped pacing and was staring down at me.
"First, you have no idea where you are so you'd die trying to get away. Second, if you somehow managed to get back to the brothers, you'd tell them everything and they'd attack us. And lastly, if I let you out, I'd be killed by the others and I rather value my life, thank you very much."
I looked over at Misabelle and saw that she was glaring at my uncle. "Some family you are. Forcing your own niece to go through torture to save your neck. Wish I had an uncle like you."
Aiden's hand slammed down on the bars and his eyes darkened, glaring at us with hatred. "What are you going to do, human? You can't get out. At least we're feeding you-"
"Oh, right, 'cause barely a helping of leftovers after a beating by werewolves is exactly what I need to survive."
Aiden's hand flashed through a gap, grabbed her head and smashed it against the cage bars. I let out a horrified gasp and lunged forward, catching my best friend's unconscious body before she fell to the ground. Blood leaked out from a cut that was hidden in her hairline and bruises started to form on her face almost immediately. There went the feeling of safety I felt with him.
"I swear, if you killed her or even gave her permanent damage, I will rip you apart limb from limb." I moved my eyes up to glare daggers at my so-called uncle. He just pulled out a tranq gun and fired at me, the dart hitting my forearm. I slumped over my best friend's body as blackness consumed me once again.
