"No, Laylee."

"Well why? That's not cool, Jace!"

"But it's smart. Kill them before they kill us."

"What makes you so positive that they want to kill us?"

"Because they are rogues."

I threw my hands up in the air. "Not all rogues are bad! Some are actually nice, and only attacked when threatened! The rogues in the surrounding no-man's land have never tried to attack before, so why would they start now?"

Jace gave me a cold look. "You don't understand."

"No, I don't understand why you would kill all the innocent rogues!"

"Rogues are not innocent! They are ruthless, deadly, and vile!"

"Some may not have wanted that life! They might've been forced to be a rogue due to unfortunate events that happened to their pack, or because it was a better life than what they were living in their pack! Others could've been kicked out, accused of something they didn't do! How can you sit there planning to kill them all? Do you know how many single mothers and children could be in that stupid list of yours? Is this your way of telling me that you don't care about the lives of children and struggling mothers?"

"Laylee, that's not what I'm saying! I understand that there could be innocent people out there, but I'm not willing to risk my pack's life if they aren't innocent!"

"You do this and you are no better than the very rogues that you hate so much. And you can say goodbye to me because I refuse to raise my children around a ruthless murderer."

"What?!" He shouted and slammed his hands flat on the table. I crossed my arms, refusing to flinch or show any hint of the fear that was running through me.

"Okay, well we're going to go and leave you two to talk about this." Jorden dragged Tatum out of the room and closed the door behind them. I forgot they were there until Jorden spoke up. Jace didn't seem to notice them at all and just continued on.

"What do you expect me to do? Let them run free, and then have all fingers point to me should they attack and or kill pack wolves? I don't think so!"

"I'm not asking you to let them all go, but why can't you just post watchers to determine if they are dangerous to us or not? Then you can kill the bad rogues and any good rogues can join the pack-"

"No fucking way!"

"If they aren't dangerous, then the pack is safe. Plus, they probably need good shelter and a better life. The least you could do is offer them a place in the pack!"

Jace was scowling deeply at me. He sank back into his chair and rubbed his forehead. I sighed and walked around the desk. He snatched me by my hips and sat me in his lap so that I was straddling him. His face buried itself into my neck and I shuddered as his lips brushed over his mark.

"I hate fighting with you, Jace, but I can't understand the point in killing innocents. You know how much I detest killing in general. It's been over a month and I still can't stop those nightmares of me killing Sophira."

He sighed and rubbed my back soothingly. "I know, baby girl. I'm so sorry for yelling. We can talk about this later, when we're more levelheaded. Right now, we need to get to bed. It's after midnight."

I snuggled into his chest. He chuckled and wrapped his arms around me, holding me against him as he walked us to our room. The twins are finally sleeping through the night and have been moved to their own rooms.

Jace laid me out on the bed and his eyes darkened as they raked over my body. I smirked and bit my lip, knowing that it turned him on. He growled lowly and ripped my clothes from me. I gasped as the cold air hit my skin before he pulled me against him...
