Laylee's POV

"Get out!"

I glared at the man standing at the open doors to the van. He snatched my kids and smirked at me, knowing that we'd all get out to keep them safe. I scrambled out of the car and felt my arms being untied. I stretched my arms for barely a second before Cora and Rhys were shoved into my hold. I cradled one in each arm and gently rocked them while also looking around us.

We were standing before a huge mansion, bigger than my house and Jace's pack house combined. I would've gaped, but I still had a gag on, and for once, I was thankful for that. The last thing I needed was to have this pack think I was impressed. Finally, the twins stopped crying, and instead snuggled into me and fell asleep.

"Move!" A guy prodded my back and I stumbled. Esbeth used her werewolf speed to put her body in front of mine to keep me from falling. I nodded my thanks at her and we walked side by side up to the front door of the mansion. It was opened and a woman in her forties stood behind it. She gasped and glared at the men behind us.

"You boys know better than to treat women like this! I understand Alpha gave you orders to get them, but this is uncalled for!" She quickly set at untying us and led us all into the kitchen. "I'm sorry for their behavior, girls. They aren't the sharpest tools in the shed around here."

We laughed and Misabelle took Rhys from me, allowing me to focus on not dropping only one baby. "I'm not going to say that we forgive them, but we will thank you for apologizing for them."

"Oh, where are my manners? My name is Clara, I'm the Omega Female. I take it that you're Laylee?" She looked to me and smiled warmly. I nodded and smiled back.

"Yes, and these are my friends, Esbeth, Sasha and Misabelle." I pointed to each girl as I introduced them. "And these are my children, Rhys and Cora."

"They are absolutely adorable! Anyways, I'm betting that you four are starving. There are some leftovers from dinner last night. Just give me a few minutes and I can reheat them for you. Take a seat, please." She motioned to the bar stools on the other side of the marble island, then set off to work on preparing the food for us.

Someone cleared their throat behind us and Clara jumped, then bowed her head. I spun slowly around and came nearly face to face with the Alpha of the pack. He looked like an older version of my father, except meaner. His green eyes were steely as he studied me, and they flashed with anger when he saw Rhys and Cora.

"You must be Laylee, mate to Alpha Jace."

"Yup, that's me." I looked away from him as Cora started crying. I knew she was hungry, that was a given since it'd been hours from when I fed the twins in the room at the inn. However, there was no way that I was going to feed them now with this man in the room.

"Let me let you in on a little secret. I don't like Jace Blakely, and there's no way that he is going to run this pack after me. So, I've planned out that when he gets here, I'm going to kill him and take over his pack. You will be mated to a man of my choice and he will lead our pack. Got it? Good."

I gaped at him while he turned around and walked over to the door, then turned back to me. "Also, those children are going to have to be disposed of." After smirking at my shocked face, he left us all standing around, glaring at where he was just moments before.

"That bastard. Thinks he can do whatever he wants cause he's the Alpha. Nobody like him should ever come to power and head a pack..." Clara's muttering became undescipherable after that and I laughed. She looked up at us with wide eyes and a sheepish grin. "I don't really like him."

"I could see that."

"Sadly, there's nothing I can do. He's commanded us all to never disobey him. I can't help you girls out by telling you an exit route. I can't even give you directions to the nearest exit, knowing that if I did, you'd be gone."
