Chapter 10-Welcome Home

My beautiful new baby girl was lying in my arms. She had to get taken into her own room overnight. I had to stay another night with the baby so they can check everything's okay and because I needed rest. Ricky slept in the chair all night next to my hospital bed again. My mom and Frankie went home to sleep but are coming back at 11:00. "Rickyyy, me and Maria are coming back today." I smiled. I knew Ricky was awake because I heard him singing one of my new songs from my EP: Christmas n Chill.
"Yeah I'm going to go back home now, to make sure everything is right for he baby." He walked over and gave me a kiss on the forehead, and walked out of the room. The hours had passed,mom and Frankie had come and gone, so it was time for me to go back home. Ricky had already sent a taxi to the hospital to take me home. When I walked up to the door with Maria in my arms, I unlocked the door to see no one home. I walked down the hall, into the living room and saw it was all dark with about a hundred candles lit around the place. What was going on? "SURPRISE! WELCOME HOME!" Ricky jumped from behind the sofa, nearly giving me a heart attack. I started to laugh and walked over to Ricky. "My turnnn to hold Maria!" he said excitedly while holding his arms out, waiting for me to pass her over.
"No!" I laughed. "We will hold her together." I nodded my head, gesturing for Ricky to go sit down. He sat down with his arm resting on the top of the couch, which always means he's waiting for me to sit down, too. I cautiously walked over with Maria in my arms and sat under the security of Ricky's arm. I cuddled into him and held the baby in my arms. Ricky bent over my shoulder and gently stroked our baby's cheeks with his knuckles.
"She really is beautiful. She takes after her mommy." He looked at me and smiled. Maria started to cry and I rocked her in my arms.
"Shhhh... Sh-sh-shhhh" I whispered. I pulled myself from the sofa and walked to the kitchen to get her food. Ricky followed me in.
"Please can I feed her?" Ricky asked hopefully.
"Of course you can!" I giggled. I ran to our room and grabbed the ultra soft pink blanket for Maria. When I walked into the living room I just stood there for a moment and watched how Ricky looked at Maria. He couldn't take his adoring eyes off of her. I walked over and saw that Maria had fallen asleep. Ricky took her up to our room and I followed. He gently placed her in her crib and I lay the blanket over her. Ricky sat on the bed and lied down. I did too. I gave him a hug and we fell asleep. We both woke up to the boisterous cry of Maria. I checked my phone and it was 1:00am. I sighed, stepped out of the bed and picked her up as Ricky turned around and smiled.
"Are you prepared for this for the next few months? 'Cos I am." he laughed. I rolled my eyes and tiredly giggled. I pulled out a yawn as Ricky got out of the bed and looked at the beautiful creature that was in my arms. "She is gorgeous" he smirked.
