Did I misread the sign?
Your hand slipped into mine
I wasn't expecting that

(8 Days Later)

Ella

"I'll see you later, I'm going out with Rocky." I called to my parents as I opened the door and left the house exitedly. In the ten days that I had known Rocky us going out together had became a regular thing and my parents, though they had yet to met him, knew who he was and certain things about him. Things like he was picking me up that day so we could go to a theme park together. I had expected to walk out and see him sitting in an average sized car, maybe a green one because I knew that was his favourite colour, whatever the details I had not expected him to be standing in front of a mini van that was full with people I recognised from that night at the club.

"I'm sorry. They found out where we were going and I couldn't get rid of them." I knew they were his family, he had shown me some photos and told me about them so I knew who they were and certain things about them but I was nervous to meet them. Meeting the family after ten days, that must of been some sort of record.

"It's okay." He walked forward the same as I was and he opened his arms allowing me to step into them. Maybe it should of mattered that his family was watching us but he may have told them about us and that was how we had been greeting eachother so it was okay. It didn't seem to matter. "I guess it's just a bit of a family trip now."

"Yeah and their girlfriends." His hands moved gently over my lower back and it felt comforting, for a minute it took away the nerves of meeting Rocky's family. Not completely though. "Come on. I reserved the passenger seat for you."

I smiled as we walked towards the car and he opened the door for me like a gentleman. I slipped into the passenger seat while he closed the door and walked around to the drivers seat. I turned around to see the mass of people who were seated in the back because I knew that it would be extremely rude to just step into somebody elses car and completely ignore the family who owned it. I swallowed my nerves and smiled at them. "Hi."

"Hey Ella, Rocky's told us about you." The pretty blonde girl who was obviously Rydel spoke to me first with a wide grin.

"Nothing too embarrasing I hope."

"Nope, it was all good." One of the boys said. He was sitting next to a girl with black hair and I presumed it was Riker because if his hair, hairstyles were big in the Lynch family. They were seen as a defining aspect of the boys. That was when Rocky turned the engine and began to drive down the road and towards the theme park we were heading to. Music was turned on and everybody dispersed into their own conversations, I was quiet for most of the journey but not because I felt awkward or uncomfortable but because I was content and every so often me and Rocky would glance at each other with a small smile and a glint in our eyes and it was lovely.

I wouldn't of minded if that car ride took forever at all but it didn't and we ended up at the large theme park, Rocky concentrating on parking the van as everybody continued to mess around in the back and I slowly nodded my head to the slow beat of the music. Rocky had already booked mine and his tickets so it was only his family who had to get theirs, we were nice though and waited for them while they were in the long line instead of just going off on our own.

Once we entered the actual park none of the boys wanted to take it slow and build up on the rollercoasters, they wanted to go straight on the biggest one in the park. I guess it was more sensible to do that because we had came early so the line wouldn'tbe as long; I wouldn't object anyway, just roll with it. I didn't go to many theme parks or on many rollercoasters so I wasn't sure whether I would be scared or not. I wasn't worried though. It took us about twenty five minutes to get to the front of the line and the rollercoaster seats were in two's so me and Rocky decided to sit next to eachother without even discussing it.

"Are you scared?" He asked me as we pulled the bar across us to keep us secure in the seats of the large rollercoaster.

"Not yet. I might when it starts though."  I shivered even though it was a warm day, it could of been the nerves from the rollercoaster or the good, exiting nerves that Rocky sent through me.

"Dont worry." He linked our hands together and placed them in the space left between us. Even just the feel of his hand touching mine sent electricity through me. I smiled to him before the ride started. It was quick with sharp turns and it went upside down. I screamed and laughed and Rocky's hand never left mine even as we were jolted back and forth. I couldn't tell why but my odd mind deciphered that as a sort of metaphor; parhaps if he didn't let the jolting and horrible movements of the rollercoaster affect his hands grip on mine, maybe just maybe he wouldn't let the jolting of life lessen his grip on me and my heart. Or maybe I was just being disastrously stupid and pathetic.

"It's been such a cool day!" Ross shouted as we all sat around a table that was way too small for all of us and we sipped on some soft drinks waiting for our burgers and stuff.

"Yeah, it's been really fun."

"Ella!" Rocky said suddenly as if the words had just burst from his mouth because he couldn't hold them in any longer. I looked over to him unsurely incase something was wrong.

"Yeah."

"Will you go over there with me for a minute?" He was scratching the back of his neck awkwardly and I was filled with a sort of dread, what if he was about to tell me to go away and never speak to him about. I racked my brain with thoughts of the day we were having incase I had said anything that would offend him or his family but I couldn't.

"Of course." I nodded and stood up pulling my jacket around me more, not because it was chilly or anything but because I was nervous about what was going to happen next.

Rocky

I was not the type of guy who got nervous around girls and scared to ask them on dates and stuff. I had always been able to tell if a girl liked me and confident because I was a good flirt. She was different. If I had read the signs correctly she liked me at least a little bit and I knew that but it didn't erase the nerves building up in the pit of my stomach. I guess she meant more because I felt like if she turned me down I didn't know what I would do. I walked in front of her slightly and lead her behind the cotton candy stand so my family wouldn't be able to stare us down.

"So..." She tried to start the conversation that had been coming since we met after I stood there quietly for a while.

"Ella." I decided to just go for it because therwise it wouldn't happen. "I know we haven't known each other for that long but I really like you, alot and I was wondering if you wanted to be my girlfriend." Her mouth opened slightly in what looked like shock but I couldn't stop rambling. "I'd ask you on a date but we've kind of been going on them already."

"Rocky..." She stopped, her sparkling eyes were wide and she looked beautiful as always but I felt like the absence of her speech meant that she didn't like me.

"Shit. Shit, you dont like me at all, I've totally misread the signs." I didn't know what to do but my chest instantly ached. I would of been okay with being rejected by every other girl I'd ever known but not her.

"No, Rocky. No!" She slipped her hand into mine which I hadn't expected to happen. "I'd love to be your girlfriend." She said quietly with a grin on her face as she pulled with all of her might so I would be closer to her. Her eyes met mine and I knew what I wanted to do, so I did. I leant down and placed my lips on hers feeling finally forfilled.
