I thought love wasn't meant to last
Honey, I thought you were just passing through

(1 year later)

Rocky

"Dude, are you ready to do this?" I heard Riker say from behind me as I stood in the hallway about to leave our house and get into my car. I nodded slowly because I knew that the nervous feeling in my stomach was a good kind of nervous.

"Yeah, I love her she's the one, I'm sure of it." He smiled and brought me into his arms in a brotherly hug that I accepted.

"Good luck!" I heard Ross shout from the living room.

"Thanks bro!"

"Rocky." Rydel ran into the room and gave me a big hug. "Good luck." She kissed my cheek. "It will go well."

"Thanks, Del."

I got to her house quickly and knocked on the door, I knew that Ella wouldn't be there because she had told me she was going shopping with one of her friends so I was hoping that both of her parents would be in or at least her father. The door opened and I saw Mabel her mother who immediately pulled me into a hug. "Rocky, love, Ella isn't here."

"I know, I was actually hoping to speak to you and Ted." She smiled slightly and knodded moving aside the let me into the house. I realised that she may have had a suspicion of what was about to happen.

"Ted!" Mabel called her head looking up towards the stairs. "Can you come down here please." There was a mumbled reply before Ted came rushing down the stairs, he looked at me and smiled.

"Hello Rocky."

"Hello Ted, how are you?" Over the past two years that me and Ella had been in a relationship I had spent quite a lot of time with Ella's parents and I had became accustomed to calling them by their first names and having casual conversations although I always made sure that I stayed respectable and polite around them.

"I'm doing very well thanks, what about you?"

"Yeah, yeah I'm really good." I smiled. "I was actually hoping to speak to the both of you about something."

He nodded. "Okay, let's go into the living room." I followed Ted into the living room and sat on the couch opposite to the one he sat on while Mabel walked behind us and then joined her husband on the couch. They sat close together and conjoined their hands almost straight away, the small action of my girlfriends loving parents made me smile. "So, what is it you wanted to talk to us about?"

"Well," I paused the nervousness taking over, I mean it was a very big decision to make. "You know me and Ella have been dating for two years now..." They both nodded. "I dont think it's too soon but I wanted to ask your permission to ask her to marry me."

There was a gasp from Mabel as her hand flew to her mouth and her eyes watered over but she looked happy. Ted's mouth opened slightly and he looked to the floor for a short while that was filled with silence until he looked up at me and stood up. I suddenly got very nervous incase he was going to say no. I hoped not. "Rocky Lynch." He said widening his arms. "Come here son."

Ella

The rain was just beginning to fall as I walked up the driveway of my house, the (too) many shopping bags that I was carrying making my hands hurt as the handles got deeper and deeper into my hands. I rushed to the door and struggled to get my keys out and open the door. I eventually stumbled in and dropped all the bags on my floor with a sigh of relief, that's when I looked up and saw my boyfriend standing there.

"Rocky what are you doing here?" I asked confused as I rubbed my hands together.

"Spontaneous date." He smiled and I looked around.

"Cool but are my parents not here?"

"Yeah, I was just speaking to them about something." I nodded slowly still not sure about the whole situation because there was a strange atmosphere in the air and there was something weird about the way Rocky was acting, there was a sort of nervousness around him. "Lets go." He said taking a hold of my hand and pulling us out of the house. I expected us to get into his car but he walked us straight passed it so we were going somewhere in walking distance.

"Where are we going?"

"Somewhere special." He said quietly with a grin as he looked at me with something extra special in his eyes, as if he was picturing me in a completely different light, like I had just saved the world or something.I didn't say anything as we continued to walk, swinging our hands in between the two of us. I had strange butterflies in my stomach like I could sense something was happening. Something exiting. He stopped as we rounded a familiar corner and stood outside a familiar place that filled my head with memories.

"This is the coffee shop we had our first date." I whispered.

He nodded. "We haven't been back here in two years." He smiled.

"But, we cant go in, it's closed." I sighed sadly looking at the clear sign on the door but Rocky shook his head and took a step forward where a smiling and recognisable waitress opened the door and moved aside putting her hand out as a gesture for us to come in. I was completely shocked as I stepped inside and all of the interier was the same but there were candles everywhere along with fairly lights strung along the walls and instead of the many tables that should of been there, there was only one that had a beautiful vase of flowers placed in the middle of it.

I gasped as the lady placed two steaming drinks on the table with a love heart powered on the white froth. Rocky took my hand and led me over to my seat as he sat across from me. Shock was evident in my behaviour, nobody had ever done anything that amazing for me and I couldn't believe that anybody would go to the effort. "Rocky this is beautiful."

"So are you." He replied quickly, I smiled, my eyes were getting glossy and I didn't know why. I was feeling something that I hadn't felt before and it was amazing. Some part of me could sense what was happening.

"Why would you do all of this for me." I asked scanning my eyes across the room.

"Because I love you, like, really really love you." I giggled at his reference to the first time we exchanged those magical words. "And I want to spend forever with you. There's literally nothing about you I dislike, El, and I know we're young and we haven't actually been together that long but I really love you and need you and I couldn't imagine my life without you." He stood up again and kneeled down in front of me. I clasped my hand over my mouth as a tear rolled down my cheeks. "Ella, will you marry me?"

"Yes!"
