Chapter 10

Roy, Foster, Patricia, and I make our way towards the main entrance of the school. I glance over at Roy to see him adjust his glasses, run a hand through his curly hair, then adjust his glasses again. His date with Eva is tonight, and he's been doing this all day because of how nervous he is. Foster and I have been trying to calm him down all day to no avail.

"Hey, you'll be alright," I tell him honestly, because I have no doubt that his date will go just fine. Eva clearly likes him back, not to mention she seems chill enough to be able to deal with his

"I don't know if I can do this," Roy says, nervously adjusting his glasses and fidgeting.

From the other side of him, Foster smacks him on the back, and Roy stumbles forward, eyes wide, as he reaches out and grabs ahold of my shoulder to steady himself. "You can," Foster encourages. "You know you can."

"I don't-"

"That's enough," Foster cuts him off, grabbing his shoulders and staring him down. "You're going to go home, shower, then run to the store for a bouquet of flowers--red roses--and then you're going to pick Eva up from her house and take her on this date."

Roy fidgets again, "Yes. I...I am going to do that."

"You're going to because you can. You can and you want to. You like Eva, and you want her to be your girlfriend, so you're going to ask her. Reach over the table for her hand during dinner and ask her. She will melt over it and say yes, okay? Don't doubt yourself."

"Wait," Patricia speaks up, looking up to Foster and crossing her arms. "That's what you did with me."

"Because it's romantic," he states simply, letting go of Roy and wrapping an arm around her waist. "You loved it. Eva will love it. Girls love it."

We stop walking at the main entrance. "Hey, this is my stop. I'll talk to you guys later."

"See you around, Tony," Foster waves me off as he continues walking with Patricia.

"Text me about your date," I tell Roy. He nods hesitantly before following Foster and Patricia. I sigh, shaking my head as he disappears. He has every right to be nervous since he's never dated before, let alone been interested in anyone

"Hey, you ready?" Liana's voice breaks me out of my reverie. I smile and nod, following her out to her car. To my surprise, she leads me up to a large, black Ford truck. I can't help but chuckle a little at the sight of a small blonde highschooler unlocking the door to a tall, looming truck. She glances at me, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips.

"What's so funny?"

"Nothing, I just like your car."

"It's not a car; it's a truck," she states teasingly.

"Oh, of course," I respond before climbing into the passenger seat.

"So, what's new with you?" I ask, leaning back in the seat.

"Jeez, I don't even know where to start..." she trails off, buckling herself in. She turns her face towards me and smiles. "Thanks for coming out with me."

I smile back, at ease. "Of course. Thanks for driving."

She chuckles before pulling out of her spot. Liana and I end up spending a few hours at Steak N Shake just talking. It was nice to reconnect and catch up with her. I never thought I'd ever see her again after I left during my family crisis.

The house is quiet when I enter. I shut the door behind me quietly, pulling off my jacket and turning around to hang it up, only to find Trent standing there, looking unhappy.
