Chapter 11
The next day is an early start. Earlier than usual, even. For some reason, Roy, Foster, Patricia, and I agreed to go Black Friday shopping with Leah, Eva, and Chloe. Thankfully, Chase is out of town this week, so I don't have to deal with him. I don't think I could deal with him with how tired I am anyway.
The girls want to go to all the major department stores, which Foster and I are very much uninterested in, but we tag along nonetheless. Exhausted, I end up just tagging along, stumbling behind the group like a lost zombie, bumping into strangers along the way. I come across a few things that I bought, including the perfect gift for Liz and a few things for mom and Trent, though later I may end up regretting my purchases.
The morning passes in a blur. Once we finish shopping, we meet back up again at a local frozen yogurt place. Personally, I don't understand why, of all places, we go to a frozen yogurt place. Why not be normal and go to a coffee shop? It's way too cold to be eating frozen treats.
Regardless of my displeasure towards eating frozen foods in the winter, I still load up a cup with some vanilla bean froyo topped with chocolate chips, strawberries, blueberries, and a chocolate sauce.
I sit myself down next to Foster, who's cup is overfilled with just about every topping they have. He digs his spoon into the heaping pile, pieces and crumbs spilling out over the sides onto the table.
"Foster, stop being so messy," Patricia scolds him. Foster shrugs, picking up a fallen gummy worm and popping it into his mouth. "Foster!"
Foster grins at her, the gummy worm in front of his teeth. She rolls her eyes at him, shaking her head. "That is so gross. Do you have any idea how many germs are on this table?"
"A lot," he replies between chewing. "But why do you think I have such a good immune system?"
"Ewww," she cries, cringing. She pushes away her cup of froyo. "I think I lost my appetite."
Foster grins and I snicker at the interaction. "More for me," Foster announces, sticking his spoon into her cup.
Chloe and Leah join us then, giving us strange looks as Foster now eats out of two cups. "Hungry there, Foster?" Chloe asks teasingly.
"He always is," I reply for him. He just nods, mouth still full of candy. The girls sit down, Chloe beside me with Leah across from her. Eva and Roy make their way to our table, sitting across Foster and I.
"Foster, are you stealing Patricia's food again?" Roy asks.
"Look, she said she didn't want it," Foster defends in a flat voice, leaning back in his chair.
"It's fine, Roy," Patricia reassures him.
"Is this a regular occurrence?" Eva inquires, gazing up at Roy. He nods, still staring down Foster.
"He tends to gross her out to the point where she's no longer hungry," he replies, glancing down at her before eating a spoonful of froyo.
"Somehow that doesn't surprise me," Chloe murmurs from beside me. I chuckle.
"You're catching on fast to Foster's personality," I tell her jokingly.
She smirks. "He's pretty shameless."
"Anyway," Leah leans forward in her seat, grinning at us, "did you guys score any great deals? I bought my mom a new coffee maker and waffle iron for, like, 50% off both. So worth it."
"I had to fight a woman for a pair of boots," Eva states, nonchalant.
"Why would you ever do that?" Foster asks, nose scrunched.
