2) Tokens of My Gratitude

Davis and I have been best friends since the beginning of High school. And the thing is, he's been secretly crushing on me ever since. Well It's not much of a secret now. He still doesn't know that I know his true feelings. Mostly because I feel the same way back. My friend Candice has been trying to get us together. It never works because me and Davis are so shy when it comes to the subject of love. She is worried how Davis is going to react to the news more than I am. But there is no way I can tell him! It will crush him! It'll be better for him to find out I'm gone when March comes. So I lied to Candice.

"Yeah I told him earlier."

"Really? What did he say? How did he react?" Candice became really pumped. She's really looking forward to my answer.

I had to hide my guilt. "Uh... He said he's happy for me to have such an awesome opportunity and that he's going to miss me."

"Awww that is so sweet! I told you that you two are perfect for each other!"

"Um Yeah." I've got to change the subject quick before she asks me more intimidating questions. "Hey Candice! You want to come shopping with me?"

"Totally! Just hit me up!"

~Later that day~

Candice and I ended up in Target. We went up and down every single aisle with our handy dandy shopping cart. She seemed perplexed on why we're here. "So what are you looking for?" I've been concentrated  on the various items on the shelves. What they were, the quality and how much they cost. It was like a hawk lurking for prey. "I'm looking for presents for the family I'm going to be staying with."

"Do you know what they like?"

"I have no clue. All I know is that there is the Mom, the Dad and they have two sons. So I need a total of 4 presents."

"Oh I'm sure they'll appreciate anything you get them! What if you got them something that they don't have there?"

Not a bad idea! I decided to find a gift for the Mom first. I lead the cart down to the isle where they exclusively had everything that you see in the latest infomercials. Let's see, this one! I've pinpoint my target! I picked it up and showed it to Candice for approval. "What about this Snuggie for the mom?"

She chuckled. "Well she'll definitely think of America differently!" I can't tell if that's a good thing or a bad thing. So I added the Snuggie to the cart anyways. A present for the mom. Check. Now for the dad. Maybe I could find his gift in the same aisle! Then there was another item that caught my attention. It got me wondering if the dad is a hardcore body builder or a very serious business man. If he's the second option, this invention will help him stay in shape and shake his stress away. I took it off the shelf. "A Shake Weight for the dad?"

"Oh My goodness gracious! Do it!" She seems to regret telling me to look for goods that they possibly don't have. A Shake Weight for the dad. Check. Now for the two boys. This one is a bit more difficult. I don't know if they're little kids or around my age. I assume they must be little munchkins. Why would  the parents want a girl staying in their house when they have two very horny teenage boys? That's troublesome enough. So I headed toward the toy section of the store.

There were multiple toy aisles with boy focused toys on the left and girl toys on the right side. The toys were seperated by categories. I've began strolling down the aisle and glancing only on the left side. Legos, No. Star wars...Nah. Jurassic Park? Maybe they like dinosaurs. What little kid doesn't like dinosaurs? I grabbed two air sealed bags that contained a variety of different plastic dinosaur figurines. Candice was noticing what I was doing. "So their two sons are little kids?" "I think so. I'm pretty sure." I claimed.

We headed to the check out. While waiting in line I grabbed two Snicker bars to add to the boys' presents. After we bought everything we walked to the parking lot with our grocery bags. Even though me and Candice had a blast buying gifts, I could tell she is still down in the dumps about me leaving the country. She swiftly covered it about with a slight grin. " I wonder what surprises will be waiting for you in South Korea."
