I'd like to say I woke with a start but I really didn't. I woke groggily, feeling sick and dizzy. The demon was gone as were the others. Slowly, I got to my feet, regretting it quickly, my head swimming. Everywhere hurt. I thought about what I'd seen, the darkness and the purple glow. It was all slightly blurry. Maybe it meant that I would be able to use those powers, I had no idea what any of it meant. The only thing I knew and slightly understood was the word, my magic. For ages I hadn't had any idea what it was or what it was about and then suddenly, there it was. The Vortex. My magic.

Carefully, like something was going to bite me, I extended one hand out to the side. Nothing happened, I wasn't thinking straight. I frowned in concentration and focused on the tips of my fingers. Different types of magic fluttered in my mind and I selected the one I'd seen last, Air Dragon Slaying Magic. Taking a deep breath, I thought hard about it, my eyes closed and when I opened them, a small wisp of white was curling its way out of my hand. My heart skipped a beat. I'd been told my magic was probably one of the most powerful but I had no idea it was at this level. Using the particles, I could imitate different types of magic.

For longer than I thought, I stood there, just staring at the slowly growing wisp of white. It was growing quicker now, curling round and round itself like a tornado of some kind. Maybe... I extended my other hand to the other side and thought about another type of magic. The same thing happened, this time, using fire. By the time I'd started to believe I was still awake, both wisps were fully grown tornados. Miniature hurricanes in air and fire, my hands deep inside them. I wanted to cry and cheer and just be happy something had gone right for once in my life. Even joining Fairy Tail hadn't really gone how I'd wanted. Stupid nerves got in the way all the time.

Just after I'd first been thrown out by my family, I'd met with a telepathic girl, younger than me, who'd demonstrated by talking to me inside my head. Now, I tried it, pressing my index and middle finger to my temple and thinking about who I wanted to contact.

"Erza?" I asked quietly, not expecting it to work.

"Wren? Are you okay? Sorry we left you but the demon started to move away. We couldn't just let it go."

"Don't worry, I'm fine. What happened to it?"

"It vanished. No idea where it went but it just vanished in front of us without a warning."

I hesitated a moment, the demon's where abouts being unknown scaring me. I changed the subject. "Where are you?"

"We're... wait a second, how are you doing this?" Erza sounded shocked, very shocked to say the least.

"I... my magic is about controlling particles which means that I can imitate different types of magic."

"How has telepathy got anything to do with particles?"

I thought for a second, racking my brain for anything that could be near to the answer. All I could really focus on was my arm which was aching from being held up for a while. "Telepathy uses particles to transmit the conversation through mid air. It's so fast though that no one else can pick it up apart from the person using the magic and the person receiving the answer."

"Okay, well, we went through the left passage to you now if you're facing straight forwards from where you woke up, assuming you just woke up. Continue following the passage and you'll come to a choice of three, left, right and straight on. Take the right passage and we'll meet you in the room at the end of it. I'm here with Lucy and Grey. Natsu and Wendy went to find what is presumably another demon."

"Wait. There's more than one?" I felt choked. The thought of having to fight the other demon that took me out was terrifying enough but now knowing there was more than one like that was even worse. "B... but it's smaller right?"

"Not necessarily. We heard it's roar which responded to one that the demon we were fighting gave. It sounded louder and echoed more suggesting it's either a lot closer than we think or it's at least ten times the size."

I shuddered. "So Natsu and Wendy have gone to find it?"

"Yes. Could you see if you can communicate with them to make sure they're alright?"

I nodded and then realised she couldn't se me. "Yes, I'll do that now."

I brought my hand away from my temple and massaged my aching arm for a moment then replaced it to my temple. "Wendy?"

Nothing.
