The newest member

Chapter 15

Natsu screeches and throws himself through the door head first, making us all start. Wendy follows, tumbling over him and falling. Carla and Happy calmly fly in.

"See, I told you we'd be alright" Carla says as Natsu leaps us and slams the door behind him.

"Hey guys" he says, grinning sheepishly. "Minimal damage was received to the volcano and sadly to the other demon who is like, ten times as big as the other one. We're screwed."

"The other one's gone now" Lucy says, walking over and helping Wendy up who's legs seem weak. "Wren killed it."

"Woah, you're serious?" all four of them shout. I blush deeply and turn my head away.

"But, you're the same age as Wendy and..." Natsu hesitates. "No offence or anything, but you seemed so weak."

"No offence taken" I mutter, still hiding my face.

"You defeated it?" Wendy cries, her eyes shining. "Wow, that's brilliant... how?"

"Erm... I found out that my magic allows me to adapt to any other magic that involves particles" I say, turning my head up to face them, still slightly pink. "So technically, that means every type of magic I've seen used."

"Really?" Natsu comes over, reaching over to Erza who has a plate of cake and receiving a slap. "That's so cool. Also, that hurt."

"Get your own" Erza snaps, turning away and eating.

"Erza likes cake a lot" Wendy says, coming to stand beside me. "It's really funny sometimes."

I nod.

"So, what magic did you use to kill it?"

"Your wind and Natsu's fire. I hope you don't mind. I didn't really expect them to work together actually" I say, blinking rapidly.

"No, not at all" Wendy shakes her head, moving over to the side where the plate of sandwiches from before have been left. "It's really cool actually. But how come, if you defeated it with two people's magic, we didn't defeat it before when both of those people we're helping?"

I shrug and take a sandwich. "I don't know, it's weird. I also used an energy ball which didn't happen before. Maybe it was that."

Wendy bites into her sandwich thoughtfully.

"So, what happened with the other demon?"

She sighs. "The part that I was awake for we were attacking it hard and nothing was happening. It hit Carla and she dropped me. I'm alright now though, I think." When I look worried, she laughs. "Okay, I'm definitely okay now."

I nod, satisfied and turn back towards the others. Happy has somehow found a fish and is chewing it, looking pleased with himself, whilst Carla sits by looking disgusted. Lucy, Erza, Gray and Natsu are standing round, talking deeply.

"They're Fairy Tail's strongest team you know?" Wendy says, seeing me looking.

I shake my head. "No, I didn't I feel like I've been asleep for years. I'm almost positive that I wasn't asleep for a number of years."

"How far back can you remember?" Wendy asks, trying not to sound worried.

I tell her and then name an event that happened every single year from then on. When I'm done, she doesn't look worried anymore. Suddenly, Gray yelps from over the other side of the room, making us both, and the Exceeds, look up, startled. There is a man with wispy white hair coming out of a door that I hadn't noticed. He takes one look at us and his eyes widen to an abnormal size.

"You... you've broken in and you've killed them all. That was all your fault that was" he cries, picking up a knife from a block and throwing it at them. They duck and Wendy and I move backwards, jumping silently onto a kitchen surface so as to not be seen. Happy and Carla crouch down from on top of the fridge. "You're eating my food, staying in my home, killing my friends and now, you're using my kitchen as a community get together room." He picks up another knife and throws it.

Natsu reached out, catches it and burns it. "Lets get one thing straight old man" he says taking a step forwards. "We didn't kill your friends. We're not murderers. We're wizards, answering to the request that was sent to the guild hall of Fairy Tail."

It seems to take him a moment to digest this before he sinks to the floor, his hands clenched and held out in front of him. "I'm sorry, I'm so, so sorry, I didn't know I... I..." He looks up. "I've been hiding because of the demon and now... you're here to get rid of it?"

"One of 'ems already gone" Natsu says, taking one of his hands and pulling him to his feet. "It's the bigger one we're having trouble with."

The old man freezes. "There are two of them?" he whispers.

Erza steps forwards. "I think we all need to have a chat about what's going on here" she says.
