so so so sorry for taking so long to update. Will be updating again periodically. Thank you so much to those who still stuck around. Enjoy reading!

* For those asking why she can't go back, it's because the first place Nate will go look for her will be her parents home (it would be the obvious place for her to go) and she does not want him to find her *

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My first instinct was to head home anyway and deal with the consequences later. The urge to see my friends and family after so long was really strong, but I resisted against it. I immediately pulled over and turned the car engine off, I had to save as much gas as I could right now. Maybe I could just spend a night or two at a nearby motel and then head back home?

"I'm cooking for you tonight" my mom's words echoed back into my head and once again I was conflicted. It's been too long since I had her cooking. I got out of my car and slowly dragged my body down till I was sitting on the floor. I just want to scream and cry and sit in bed and watch Netflix. When did my life become such a mess? Thanks to all the hours I invested into watching Prison Break and Criminal Minds, I was able to keep my head clear till I came up with a good plan. I stood back up and begin pacing back and forth thinking of what other options I had. I could head back home, say hi to everyone, get some cash, eat a delicious home cooked meal and head back on the road. Or I could stay here a night, but then again I don't have enough to pay for a motel. So many options, just not enough money. After a few more minutes of thinking my plan through, I decide I'll head back home.

I know I don't have enough gas to drive myself four hours all the way home, but if I can at least get into my home city, I can figure it out from there. I begin driving and decide the best way to save gas right now is to speed. And so I do.  After an hour of driving at varying speeds of hundred to a hundred twenty miles per hour, I realize I need to stop for gas again. I had never fed my baby anything but the best quality of gas, and now I'm in a situation where I'm having to feed my Lexus some cheap gas. It made me really sad but I realize that I'll be home soon and then I can make it up to her. The thought of being back home, eating my mother's food and seeing my dad again, ah I miss them so much. Remembering that I was on a tight time frame, I finish up filling gas and get back on the road.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two long hours later, I am finally here. Not home, but close. My baby made it far enough to get me into the city before she started making noises. I really didn't want her to shut down on me so I parked her at a nearby grocery store before starting the rest of my journey on foot. My house wasn't far from here, maybe nine or ten miles. Being the lazy ass that I am, I decide to call Ethan to come pick me up rather than walk. I mean, who the hell wants to walk ten miles when they can be driven right?

"Hello? Ethan?" I ask excitedly.

"Elena!? Is that you? Where have you been?? Actually no I don't care where are you right now I'm coming to get you?"

Well that was convenient..

"Oh thank you for asking Ethan I'm good how are you?" I made sure to use my best sarcastic tone to respond to this idiot.

"Elena what the hell where are you??" okay he sounds kind of angry. I mean I probably would be to if he disappeared on me like that.

I decided to stop playing games and sent him my location, making sure to tell him to bring me some gas money that I'd pay him back for later. It took him less than ten minutes to find me. I was seeing him after so long and only then did I realize how much I had missed him. "Emma is waiting for you. She was having lunch with our dad when you called so I didn't have time to bring her, but she'll meet us at your place when we get there. Where have you been Elena? How have you been?" Ethan looked more worried for me than he should have. I mean granted that I was kidnapped by some idiot wolf turning psycho, but he didn't deserve to be so worried. I gave him a long hug, somewhat hoping that would shut him up long enough till I got home and got the chance to answer everyone's questions at once. Ethan watched as I filled gas into my car without saying a word. He was confused and I could tell he had a lot of questions, but he also knew me and he knew I wouldn't talk till I was ready. I got into my car when I was done and he got into his. He followed me all the way back to my house and although we weren't exactly racing on the way there, we weren't exactly within the speed limits. Ever since the both of us had started driving, we were incapable of "not speeding". That, of course, does not include when either of our parents happened to be in the car with us.

As we got closer and neared my house, I started to get a bad feeling. Maybe I should call my mom and make sure everything is okay first? Nah Ethan said Emma would meet me there, she would have called if anything happened. I noticeably slow down as we near my neighborhood. After entering the code to enter through the gates of my neighborhood, I decide on driving by my house first just as a precaution. I had to make sure Nate didn't get here before me. As we reach my house, Ethan begins to park but stops when he notices me drive right by. The only cars I see are my dad's and Emma's. My mom parks in the garage along with the rest of our cars. I make a swift U-turn and pull back into the driveway of my house. Ethan parks as well and gets out, giving me a weird but questioning look. "You okay?" he asks worried. I just nod my head and begin my walk to the front door. I was about to ring the doorbell when I realize this is my parents' house. I hold out my house keys as I open the front door and walk inside. The first thing that hits me is the strong smell of food coming straight from the kitchen. The second thing that hits me is the noise of everyone talking. The voices of my mom and dad and Emma all giggling and talking brings a smile to my face. I look back at Ethan smiling when the realization hits me.

Their voices aren't alone.

I didn't realize it at first because I was too distracted but now it's hitting me hard.

The voice that now starts to stand out most: Nate.

Nate is here. Nate is here talking and laughing with my parents and my best friends sister.

My first instinct is to run, and so that is exactly what I do.

I run.
