Paul had been acting weird lately. Maybe it's just the fact that he knows there will be a baby in the house soon and he's not sure of what he's going to do about that? None of us know.
I'm now almost thirty eight weeks. Michael and I are going into the hospital this morning because the doctor says that Preston will be coming soon. Michael and I were both so excited.
We were finishing packing my hospital bag. We got everything and we're putting it in the car. I strapped in Preston's car seat, since we'd be needing it when we came back to the house. Michael got on his disguise, as he had every time we left the house.
We told my parents and Michael's parents that we would call them when I went into labor, and they could come in then. They agreed.
Michael and I arrived at the hospital. I was put into a room, and we waited. I couldn't wait until Preston was here. I had waited long time, and I wasn't very patient anymore.
"I love you, babe.." Michael grabbed my hand.
"I love you too," I smiled, "are you ready to meet our son soon?"
"I'm more than ready. I'm so excited."
The doctor came in every fifteen minutes or so to check on me and see how far I was dilated. I wasn't very far yet, and I was getting impatient. I just wanted Preston to be here already.
Soon, I had fallen asleep and Michael had too. I woke up, and two hours had passed. I woke Michael up, telling him I had really bad contractions.
When the doctor came in the next time, I told him about the painful contractions, and he told me I was fully dilated.
Michael called my parents and his. He told me they were coming and that they'd be here in just a few minutes. I was hurting, but at the same time I was excited. Preston would be here soon.
I grabbed Michael's hand in mine and pushed as hard as I could, as the doctor instructed.
Preston Daniel Clifford was born at 10:37 on August 9, 2014. He was six pounds, twelve ounces and was nineteen inches long.
"Michael, here," I handed him Preston.
"He's so small," Michael admired his baby son.
"Well, he's a baby so.." I chuckled.
"I love him already," he smiled and looked up at me. He held out his hand to Preston, and Preston grabbed Michael's pinky finger.
"He's got such tiny hands and fingers," Michael pointed out. I loved how Michael was completely in love with Preston.
"Yeah, Michael, he's going to be little," I told him. He nodded.
"I love him, though," he repeated.
"I do too," I smiled, "and I love you."
"I love you too," Michael whispered and pecked my lips.
Our parents had been in the waiting room, not allowed to see Preston yet. They came in about ten minutes after he was born. Danny had come too, and he walked quickly up to us and asked if he could hold him first. I nodded and told Michael to hand Preston to Danny.
"What's his name?" Danny wondered. Michael and I looked at each other and smiled.
"His name is Preston Daniel Clifford," I proudly said.
"My name is his middle name," Danny smiled. I nodded.
"I just now realized that," Michael laughed.
Preston was passed from one person to another. Everyone was admiring him. Everyone loved him, but Michael and I definitely loved him the most. I knew it was going to be hard having a baby in the house, but I knew we'd be fine. we had enough family to help us. I was thankful for that.
Michael and I had gotten Preston's nursery done in the house. It looked so cute, and we both knew that Preston would love it. Even if he didn't, we wouldn't have known the difference.
A nurse filled out the birth certificate. I just couldn't believe my baby boy was here. He was actually physically in this world. It was an amazing thing to think about. I loved to think of it that way.
"Could Pandora and I just have a word alone, please? Preston can stay. I want to hold him a little," Paul asked the rest of the family. Mom handed Paul Preston, and they all left.
"What did you want to talk about?"
"Well.. I'm sort of, um," he paused.
"You're sort of what? Are you gay?" I asked, surprisingly.
"No!" He exclaimed, "I'm dead.."
