I figured my mom was getting really suspicious about Michael being dead. He almost never leaves his house or ours. He's in our house a lot, which is another reason. I think he's scared her by being behind her a few times, too. He needs to be more careful if he wants to stay with me. When my parents find out, they won't be very happy. I don't know how much they'd like it when we told them Michael was dead. They wouldn't want me dating a dead guy.
I was scared. I was thinking whether or not to tell my parents. I didn't want to, but then I didn't want them to find out from someone else. I just figured I'd talk about it with Michael.
"Michael.. I think we should tell my parents that you're dead," I told him straightforward.
"No!" He exclaimed right away, "we can't! They won't approve! They won't want their only daughter dating a guy who is dead!"
"Don't worry.. They love you. They won't ban me from dating you just because of this. I promise you, they'll be fine with it. Just please.. I want to tell them," I begged.
"Why do you want to tell them so badly?" He looked at me like I had two heads. I guess I was being a little whiny, but I really didn't want to lose Michael.
"I want my parents to find out from us, not from anyone else. I don't know how Paul is doing with keeping the secret. Who knows when he's going to spill? Please," I asked him once more.
"Okay, okay. We can tell them. When do you want to tell them?"
"Right now."
"Right now?"
"Right. Now."
"Okay.." He took a deep breath, "I really don't know how we're going to bring it up."
"My mom has been becoming suspicious. She probably knows something is up. You haven't been very careful with appearing and disappearing."
"I'm sorry," he apologized.
"It's okay since we're going to tell them now. Let's go. I want to get this over with. I have no idea what they're going to say."
"Yeah. Me neither. Let's go," he motioned out of my room and downstairs. I followed him, and we both walked into the kitchen.
"Mom, Dad," I addressed them. They stopped what they were doing and looked and Michael and me.
"Yeah, Pandora? What is it?" Dad smiled. I got nervous. I really didn't want them to get mad. The nerves took over, and Michael answered because he knew I had gotten nervous.
"We need to tell you something. You might have noticed. It's about me," he told them, hinting as he always did. He never told them what he wanted to say until after a while of talking to him. Maybe he wanted to make sure they were in a good mode when he tells them things.
"If it's that you're Australian, I'm pretty sure we've already figured that out," mom laughed. I did a little too, and Michael joined. Dad was just studying Michael.
"Well.. You know how we told you the secret about this house?" He asked, and my parents both nodded.
"Michael is dead-" I blurted, then covered my mouth. Michael looked down, and he grabbed my hand in his.
"You are? Is it true, Michael?" Dad looked at him, his stare demanding an answer.
"Yes. It's true. I've been dead for, um, a few months. About six now," he admitted.
"Oh," my parents looked down. They seemed more shocked than mad at us. I wanted them to tell us what they were felling, though.
"Okay," they shrugged.
"Really?' I asked, and they nodded. I was surprised. I thought they wouldn't want me dating Michael if he was dead.
"Yeah. If you love each other, there's nothing stopping you from being together. We can't stop you, and we're not going to try," dad smiled. I hugged both of them, and Michael was standing there smiling.
"Thank you guys," he finally said.
"You're welcome. Just make sure to tell us things right away in the future. We won't mind. If we do mind, we will make sure our decisions are fair, okay?"
"Okay," I agreed. I thanked them once more before going back upstairs into my room with Michael and sitting on my bed to talk again.
"They took it better than I thought they would," Michael seemed surprised, just like I was. I nodded to agree with him.
"I'm tired, though. I'm going to sleep," I told him.
"It's not even four in the evening," he looked at me like I was weird.
"I can't take a nap?" I asked, "but I'm tired so fuck off."
"Okay. I'll be at my house, but I'll come back later, okay?" He smiled, "see you, babe."
He kissed my cheek as I laid down. I fell asleep soon and slept for quite a while. Right after I woke up, I felt really nauseous, but I didn't throw up. I had a headache too. It seemed like all of a sudden. Well, I have been having other symptoms of pregnancy..
I went into my mom's bathroom and grabbed two of the pregnancy tests she had down in the cupboards. She had bought two for some reason that I wasn't completely sure of. She didn't use them, but she told me that they'd be down there if I needed them ever or if Paul ever had a girlfriend that needed them.
I took both, and I was scared of the results. I didn't know what they were going to be. I found out that I was pregnant thanks to the tests. That's a great early Christmas present (note the sarcasm). Merry Christmas, motherfucker.
