22.) Because of Love

Teresa' s POV

"You're not him. You can never be him." Thomas said so painfully honest that she doesn't know how she couldn't have noticed before.

Maybe she had him when before she ever betrayed them, or maybe she never had him at all. She lost him to the Second in Command the moment their eyes caught each other when Thomas entered the Glade. She saw instantly in the Glade how ready they were to protect each other, to defend each other.
She lost his trust. She hurt him because she believes WICKED is good and believes when they said it had to be done, but she still felt sick to her stomach when she saw the betrayal in Thomas's eyes.

Newt was there and did what she will never be able to do again and that was hold Thomas. His Tommy and he is that. Thomas is Newt's and Newt is Thomas's. She knows her betrayal will push them together more and make them realize their feelings. She doesn't know how to swallow that thought but she knows she doesn't deserve him.

Newt does. He helps Thomas in ways she never had and she and Thomas were telepathically connected.It was never Newt competing with her. It was Teresa competing with Newt. Thomas and Newt together could destroy all of WICKED plans because there is nothing or anyone they wouldn't go throw for each other.

If anyone dared to touch one of them, the other would be out to destroy. She saw that in the Scorch. Teresa knows either way that if she betrayed him or not those words would still have been spoken to her.

She knows Thomas only said those words because of love.

Love he hasn't realize yet but is on his way to. Sometimes such cruel words are said because of love. And she knows there is nothing Thomas and Newt wouldn't do when they realize they can take down everything with the power of their love for each other.
