"Amazing. This is amazing." you whisper as it starts to rain. The cold drops hit your already shivering skin while you walk and try to speed up, tripping a couple of times as you try to find a roof to protect you from the upcoming storm. It's getting intense very fast, it's even a little scary (you've never been a fan of lightning) and you curse everything and anything you can think of because this is definitely the worst day of your entire life. When you see a cute little bakery not so far away with a small roof above their main entrance, you immediately take shelter under it and take your phone from your pocket to check, once again, at the mess you've caused today.

The screen is completely cracked, almost on the verge of falling out, and you remember with shame how you threw your phone against the wall in blind rage. You check your messages and see, for the tenth time (or more, who knows), the pictures of your boyfriend, no, your ex boyfriend, being very, very affectionate with a stranger, and you're glad the cracks on the screen won't let you see her face anymore, because you don't want to have her on your mind for the rest of your life.

Apparently you want to feel more sad, because you also check your mail to see the three awful grades you got that very same day on the most important exams of the year.

You try not to cry as you put your phone in your pocket again and search for an umbrella in your bag, even though you know you left it at home because you were so sure it'd be a nice, sunny day. How wrong you were.

The door of the bakery opens with the tingling, cute sound of a bell, and the smell of fresh bread and pastries reaches your nose as a stranger comes out with some shopping bags on one hand and an umbrella on the other. You can't really see his face because he has his hood up, covering his hair and part of his face. You see him struggling with all the things he's carrying as he tries to open the umbrella, so you clear your throat and try to speak in a normal, non-crying voice.

"Do you need any help?"

The stranger turns around and fixates his eyes on yours with a look of wonder. He has pretty eyes, you think, shiny and small and innocent, and you wish you could stare at them for a few more seconds but he immediately averts them to look at all the things he's carrying.

"Ah. Yes, if you don't mind. Could you open the umbrella for me?"

He passes it to you and you feel his warm fingers for a second, wishing you could hold his hand for a little bit because you're so, so cold and shaky, and apparently he notices because he lets out a small gasp at the connection.

"You're so cold, are you okay?"

You open his umbrella without saying anything and give it back to him. Your eyes connect again and you give him a small, sad smile.

"It's okay, really. Have a nice day."

He stares at you a little bit longer and smiles back, his eyes still shining. The lightning suddenly goes off strongly and you both jump in the spot. He laughs, and you're astounded and feel a little warm at the cute expression of his face. His eye smile is probably the most adorable thing you've ever seen in a guy, and you always thought your boyfriend had the prettiest face, but now you're not so sure anymore.

The stranger leaves and you feel a little sad, but it's okay, because this day isn't meant to be a good one. He was just a little light, a warm touch that lasted only a second, and you're glad it happened even though it was so short and left you wanting for more.

The tears are almost about to come out as you remember, again, how you got there, freezing, empty inside, not wanting to go to an empty apartment (you told your boyfriend to move out before you got there or you'd cause another scene) when a voice startles you and makes your heart race with surprise.
