"What were you thinking?" my dad continued to scold at me as he drove me home from 'football practice'.
Unfortunately, Coach found out that my name isn't Sabrina Cavity, so he called my dad.
After my dad and Coach argued back and forth for about ten minutes (because dad was pissed off at Coach for letting me get pumbled to a pulp), dad was driving me home. And now it's my turn to get fussed at.
"I dont know," I told him and leaned my head on the cold window.
"Charlie, that was the dumbest thing you ever did," dad said. I didnt have to look at him to know that he was shaking his head. "Why'd you do it?"
"Because! I wrote out a stupid email to Asher, that wasnt suppose to be sent to Asher. And Abby sent it. So I was just trying to get it back so I wouldnt be the biggest joke in the history of the world!"
Anger boiled up inside of me. My whole life is a total flop.
"You shouldnt have did that," dad continued.
"Doesnt matter now anyways," I told him and sighed. "I never got Asher's phone, so he's gonna see the message and I'll be embarrassed. Because no matter what you or Miracle say, he doesnt like me."
"Actually, Miracle told me that you two confessed to liking each other."
Curse you, Miracle.
"Well she lied," I said. "It wasnt even a normal confession. It was stupid."
He pulled up into the driveway and I slowly got out of the car. My whole body was in pain. It felt like all my body parts would soon be scattered on the ground.
"Well now, you wont be upset about being grounded. You're not going to want to leave your bed anyways."
I dragged my feet upstairs and got under my covers. My phone vibrated with a text, but I ignored it. And I soon drifted off to sleep.
*
I probably wouldve stayed asleep all day long if it wasnt for my phone waking me up. When I opened my eyes, though, I quickly regretted it. The sunlight seemed brighter than ever.
I groaned and checked the time. 12:00 p.m.
"What?" I yelled to no one. Before I could get up and panic, my dad came in my room with some food.
"You're sore, baby girl," dad said with a chuckle. "I decided to let you stay home from school today."
I grinned at him and sat up in my bed. "Thanks, dad."
He handed me an asprin, a banana, and a glass of water. Then he left.
I checked my phone and saw a text from an unknown number.
Unknown Number - Hey. You alright?
Confused, I took a sip of my water and typed a reply.
Charlie - Who's this?
Unknown Number - Asher
Startled, I nearly spilled all of my water on my bed. But I caught myself. I then saved Asher's number to my contacts.
Charlie - How'd you get my number?
Asher - Miracle.
Figures.
Asher - So how you feeling?
Charlie - Like shit.
Asher - Wow. How did I know you'd say that?
