Chapter 4 (Surprises!)

Diamond

It's been 10 months since Demontre' killed himself. Nobody has found his body. It's like he disappeared off the face of the Earth. I've been a total wreck without him. Me and Lyric have become closer and she introduced me to her brother, Keem. He's amazing. Sometimes he reminds me of Demontre'. He takes care of my kids and he takes care of me. No, we don't live together, but it is getting close to the point that we will. As for Ray, I haven't heard from him since we did the DNA results 9 months ago. It came back that Ray wasn't the daddy so that leaves Demontre', but now he's gone and I have to live with the fact that it's my fault.

Now me, Lyric, and Keem are finally moving out of this state, so that I can run away from all my problems. We are moving to California today. Actually we are on the plane now and we only have two more hours. As soon as we get there, I'm going to go shopping with the kids and Keem. I hope moving to a different state, half way across the country, will get Demontre' off my mind. I hope this works.

*Two Hours Later*

The plane just landed and Me, Lyric, Keem, and the kids are headed to the mall. Las Angelas is huge! It took us an hour and a half just to find the mall. We were in Toys R Us and Keem told me he would be right back. When he was walking back over to us he ran into somebody. I couldn't see the guy's face because his back was too us.They said their sorrys and the guy walked away, but as the guy walked away Keem picked up something and looked back. Keem then came back over to us and gave me a kiss.

"Who was that you bumped into babe?" I asked looking into his eyes.

"I don't know, but he dropped his phone. I turned around to give it back to him but he was gone. We'll just call it when we get home." He responded paying for the stuff we got.

We went home but when we got there he decided to go look for a job, so he told me to call the guy that was at the mall's house phone. Keem left, leaving me, Lyric, and the kids at home to watch movies, but I didn't feel like watching movies.

I went in my room and called the guy's house phone. Luckily his phone wasn't locked. It rung 4 times before someone answered.

"Hello?" A deep male voice rang in my ear.

"Um, Hi. I'm new in California and me and my boyfriend went to the mall earlier. He bumped into you and you dropped your phone. We would just like to return it, so if you could meet me at Starbucks right down the strret from the mall I would greatly appreciate it." I tried to sound proper.

"Oh yeah, may I ask your name and what time?" He responded. I swear his voice sounded so familiar.

"Umm in about 30 minutes? Just look for the girl that's really short and thick. I'm part Puerto Rican. Long hair." I just described myself to him instead of telling him my name.

"Oh really? My ex-fiance' was puerto rican and short. Anyways see you in 30 mami." And with that he hung up.

I put my hair up in a bun and got the kids ready to go. Lyric decided she was going to stay and start dinner. I made my way to Starbuck's and went inside. Me and the kids were the only ones there so we sat down and waited. After about 10 minutes a tall guy walked in. He kinda looked familiar from a far. He walked up to me and his eyes got wide. The only thing that came out of his mouth was ... "Diamond."

"Demontre'?"

Is Diamond just having a bad dream or is she really seeing Demontre'?

What will be the kids reaction?

What will Keem think?
