At first, I'm too shocked to do anything but stand there.  Then, I realize what's happening and I wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him closer.  I kiss him back.  Finally, I rest my forehead on his, almost breathless.

"That was so cliche'."  I say, smiling.  His eyes widen, probably scared that I didn't like it.  "But I'm okay with it."  He laughs in relief.

"Well, I'm glad."  He replies.  Suddenly, gunshots ring out, and me and Emmett duck to the ground instinctively.

"Seriously?" I ask in annoyance.  "This happens now?"  Emmett laughs again.  I look at the building across from this one and see two shooters, aiming their guns at us.  They both have ski masks on, similar to the men from the warehouse.  I gasp.  "Emmett, I think these are the same guys from the warehouse."  His eyes widen.

"That means that Alex could be here."  He realizes.  I try to keep myself from panicking, but I can feel myself start to hyperventilate.  Emmett sees this.  "It's gonna be okay."  He says, kissing the top of my head.  I blush at this.  "You stay here, I'm gonna try to disarm them."

"What if you get shot?"  I ask, grabbing his arm.

"Faster than a speeding bullet, remember?" He smirks.  "I'll be okay."  He speeds off, and I'm left crouching there, alone.  Then, the temperature on the roof drops just like it had at the gym last night.  This time, I know why.  I'm shaking in fear as I turn around, becoming face to face with Alex.

"Hey sweetheart."  He says, smirking.  "I'm loving the new outfit."

"Don't call me that." I practically growl as I threw a fire ball at him.  It hits him in the chest and he's thrown a few feet away.  He gets up, his eyes wide.   Apparently he hadn't known about Emmett taking the anti-serum for me.  It's my turn to smirk at him now.  "What, you don't like a challenge Alex? Lame."  He has a murderous look on his face now and I try to ignore the fear I have for him.  I hear another gunshot from behind me and spin around, making sure Emmett hasn't been hurt.  As soon as I do, I feel a cold, dull pain on the back of my left shoulder.  I'm thrown to the ground.

"Like I said last night, sweetheart, I'm gonna kill you." He says, a psychotic smile on his face.  He's walking toward where I am on the ground.  "But now, I'm gonna kill your new boyfriend too.  This is why you're worthless.  You hurt everything you touch."

"You stay away from him."  I say, getting up.

"I know your weakness."  He says.  I throw another ball of fire at him but he dodges it.  Where the hell is Emmett? I form a wall of fire in front of me as a shield and decide to leave the roof to find him.  I jump off the roof behind me, catching myself and flying across the street where Emmett is supposed to be.  When I get there, I see him standing in the middle of the rooftop with the two men behind him, one of them with a gun to his head.  I restrain myself from throwing any fire at them, knowing they'll kill him if I do.  Emmett staring at me, seeming to be pleading with me through his eyes.  He looks afraid and at first I think that it's for his own sake.  Then, when I hear Alex's voice behind me, I know that he's afraid for me.

"Told you I know your weakness."

"Let him go, you son of a bitch."  I whisper, my voice trembling.

"I don't like that language."  Alex says, grinning and walking over to where Emmett is standing.  "But whether or not I let him go depends on you."  I don't need to be a mind reader like Emmett to know what he's talking about.

"I'll do it.  I'll go with you.  Just let him go."

"No!" Emmett yells, and tries to run towards me.  He's restrained by the two men, and I realize that they probably have super strength like Emmett, otherwise they wouldn't be able to hold him.  He struggles but they don't relax their hold on him.

"You have to promise that he won't be harmed."  I say, ignoring Emmett.  If I look at him, I know I wouldn't be able to leave him to go with Alex.

"Cross my heart and hope to die."  I nod.

"Let me say good-bye to him."

"Fine." He agrees.  "You have two minutes."  I run towards Emmett, wrapping my arms around his neck.  Since the men are still restraining him, all he can do is hide his face in the crook of my neck.

"I'm so sorry."  I whisper.  "It's gonna be okay.  Tell Lexi I love her."  He shakes his head.

"You don't have to do this."  He pleads with me.  "Please."  His voice is trembling.  I pull back from our hug and see that he has tears in his eyes.

"It's my turn to save you."  I smile through the tears that are rolling down my cheeks.  "I get to be the hero now."

"I don't want you to be the hero though.  I want you with me, alive."

"I'm sorry Emmett."  I say again.  "This isn't your choice to make.  It's mine."

"Thirty more seconds."  Alex calls from behind me.  I press a soft kiss to Emmett's lips and when I pull back I press my forehead against his, like how we were before we were shot at.

"I'm gonna find you."  He whispers.

"Please, let me do this.  I'm doing this to save you.  All I do is cause hurt.  You'll be okay."  He just shakes his head.

     "You are so wrong."

"Time's up!" Alex says, and starts dragging me away from him.

"Amy!"  Emmett yells, struggling against the two men holding him.  I'm sobbing now, realizing that this is last time I'll ever see him.  Then one of the men hits him in the head with his gun and he falls to the ground, laying still.

"You said you wouldn't hurt him!" I yell at Alex.  I finally manage to free myself from his grip and i run over to Emmett to make sure he's okay.  Other than a cut that's now on his forehead, he looks fine.  I feel Alex grab me from behind, but I don't struggle this time.

"I had to make sure he wouldn't follow us, sweetheart."  I don't like how close he was to my ear when he says this.  I cringe.  "Now it's just you and me."
