*Mason P. O. V*
"So do you want to pick the movie tonight?" Matt asks me.

"I don't care" I answer him blankly, staring out the window toward Alice's house.

The lace curtains to her kitchen are closed shut as if to block out someone from looking in, the curtains were never shut. I wonder if Alice's parents don't want me or Matt to look in the window anymore, they probably had lots of guys looking in there before at their old house.

Or maybe Alice is shutting me out and doesn't want anything to do with me, maybe I came on to strong taking her to the train tracks last week. She has seemed really distant at school again, smiling at me a few time but mostly keeping her head down toward the ground. I can not read that girl and it makes me want to punch a wall.

"Earth to Mason!" I hear Matt yell, ripping my mind away from my thoughts. "Geez dude. What's got your panties in a twist?" He teases me.

"Nothing!" I say defensively.

He puts his hands up in there as if surrendering. "I thought we told each other everything bro" He says to me, running his hands through his sandy blonde hair.

I take a deep breath and answer in a soft voice, "There's this girl..." I trail off.

"Britney!" He yells out.

I bite my lip, "Yeah, something like that." I answer, "Anyway, she's driving me crazy, I can't get her off of my mind, no matter what I do."

He chuckles before saying, "Well with a girl like Britney it's kinda hard to."

He looks me in the eyes and I quickly move my eyes toward the beige wall of kitchen.

His face turns serious, "It's not Britney, is it?" He asks me.

I look up at him from my seat, look back down at the ground and slowly shake my head. "No" I answer.

"Who is it?" He demands.

I hesitate a few moment before getting up from my seat and pointing up at one the windows in Alice's house, which is the room that Alice occupies. "Do you know who lives in that room?" I ask him.

He shrugs his shoulder nonchalantly and says, "Yeah Alice Hughes"

I stare at him for a few seconds while he stares back at me with a blank expression on his face. Suddenly his eyes light up and he lets out a huge gasp, "You like Alice Hughes?" He blurts out.

Then he starts laughing, and he doesn't stop. "You like Alice Hughs" he says in between laughs and that sets him off again.

I roll my eyes at him and grab my coat, as I am walking toward the door I yell over my shoulder, "I'm outa here."

But I don't get anything in response just more laughter coming from the kitchen. I swing open the door and slam it behind me. I am filling with anger the more seconds that go by. I shove my arms in my jacket and sit down on the steps of Matts porch. Is it really that wrong that I like Alice? I think to myself. I drop my head into my hand and I start to feel water drops on my head. It's starts off very slow then gradually picks up until I am soaked in water. I grunt to myself and slowly getting up, and let out a few curses under my breath.

I slowly walk by Alice's door and stand there outside staring at it, hoping with all of my might that maybe it will open and Alice will come out, inviting me to come in. Seconds turn into minutes of me standing there staring and I realize with a sigh that she isn't going to come out. I drop my head and start the walk to my house in the freezing rain.

Suddenly the front door opens and Alice comes running out, "Mason?" She asks, squinting her eyes into the rain.

I look back at her and watch as her curls start to flatten with the rain.

"Yeah, it's me." I answer.

"Well, you better come in. You're gonna catch a cold, walking in this weather." She commands me. She gives me a warm smile and ushers mr to the door with her hand. "Come on" she urges, "I don't bite."

"I kinda wish you did" I whisper to myself.

"What was that?" She asks me.

"Nothing at all" I tell her as I run up the steps to her porch.

As I brush by her to step into the house, I stroke her cheek with my hand and she shivers, which make me laugh. I throw my arm around her neck and we walk into her house laughing. She leads me to her couch and she sits down, patting the spot next to her.

"Come on" she urges.

I sit down next her and she wraps a blanket around me shoulders. The blanket it a purple one with white zig zags across the middle, on the bottom is written in white font, "Alice Hughs 1998" she laughs when she sees me reading it.

"It was a gift from my godmother. I have always liked her better than my parents, but I never get to see her anymore. My parents think she is a bad influence just because she lets me express myself through music. They hate it when I sing." She explains.

I give her a confused look "You sing?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.

She nods her head, "And before you ask, nope, I will not sing for you." She states. I groan at her and roll my eyes.

"You're no fun." I tell her, Putting my arm around her shoulder.

I see her blush a little at my touch and it puts a smile on my face.

"So" she says, breaking the silence. "Do you want to watch a movie?"

How about we sit here and make out? I think to myself. "Sure a movie is fine" I tell her.

She gets off of the coach and grabs a movie off of the shelf, "Is Jurassic Park ok?" She asks me, shaking the movie case.

I like a girl who knows her movies. I nod and she turns around to put it into the CD player. Suddenly guilt comes over me, I have to tell her soon. But I don't know how. I don't know what she will do or how she will feel about me. I have to do it sometime or another.

I cough and she turns around to look at me, "Before we start the movie, can we please talk for a second?" I ask her and her face turns red.

She turns her head away from mine and responds with, "Yeah, I was meaning to ask you about something anyway."

I look at her, confused. "It's about something that James told me." she says and my question is answered.
