I sit crouched behind the couch as I watch the elderly women approach Alice.

Alice runs over and gives her a hug, "What are you doing here?" She asks Rosa.

The women hobbles over to the couch that I am crouching behind and takes a seat in front of me. Alice gives me an urgent look and motions me to move toward the kitchen.

The women takes a deep breath and says to Alice, "Well since your parents left town they asked me to come over a few times this week and check up on you." She explains.

"Oh yeah, I forgot that they left today" Alice answers, giving me another look and I roll my eyes at her.

I stand up very slowly and tip toe my way toward the kitchen, as I am walking over a floorboard creeps loudly under my foot and my whole body freezes.

"What was that?" Rosa asks, turning her head around in my direction.

I panic and dive under the kitchen table, I try not let out a cry of pain when my knee hits the corner of the leg.

"Uhhhh, it was the... The cat" Alice lies.

I try not laugh, that was the best she could come up with?

"Since when did you guys have a cat?" Rosa asks interrogatingly.

Alice gets a panicked look on her face then answers, "Since Christmas. Anyway, I'm fine here but I am extremely tired so if you could just leave me to sleep that would be great. Thanks for stopping by!" She says to Rosa while helping her out of the spot on the couch.

Rosa gives her a suspicious look but accepts the help from Alice.

"Ok" Rosa says, "But I will back here at 11 tomorrow morning, to check in."

Alice nods her head and ushers her to the door.

Alice opens the door and Rosa looks at her and laughs, "You're a strange child" she states and I try not to laugh.

Alice smiles and nods at Rosa and she finally walks out the door. Alice closes the door behind her and looks at me, we start laughing at the same time. I try to compose myself but every time i look back up at her, I start laughing all over again.

"It wasn't that funny," Alice explains, through fits of laughter.

"Yes, it really was." I answer.

I get out from under the table and inspect the spot where I hit my knee on the table, sure enough there is a black and blue bruise forming.

"What happened?" Alice asks in a concerned voice.

"Nothing, I just hit it on the table, I will be fine." I tell her.

She runs to the freezer and grabs an ice bag, running back over to me, she says, "Here put this on the bruise." She pushes it down onto the sensitive spot making me Yelp.

"Sorry" she giggles.

I roll my eyes at her and press the ice bag down. After about 10 minutes of sitting in silence, I take the ice bag off my knee and walk over to put it back into her freezer.

As I am putting it back in, I hear Alice say from behind me, "Can I ask you a question?"

I close the freezer door and turn to look at her.

I squint my eyes and reply, "I have an answer."

She plays with the bracelets on her wrists before quietly asking, "So, are you and Tiffany, like dating?"

I look at her and scoff. "Me. And Tiffany?" I say more to myself than her.

She nods her head and says, "That's what she's been telling everyone."

Of course she has.

"No, oh god no. Um, I hooked up with her one time but that was such a long time ago. It was before I knew you." I explain.

Ugh, she probably thinks I'm a creep now, God Mason, what's wrong with you, but instead she looks flattered. She gives me a wide smile, so that the corners of her eyes crinkle and I smirk in response.

"I will deal with Tiffany. Don't worry about it." I tell her, and she nods.

"By the way. I was meaning to ask you something." I shyly say to Alice.

She gives me a curious face, "Go on" she answers, taking a step closer toward me.

"So, Homecoming is next week." I start and a huge grin spreads across her face. "And I was wondering..." She nods her head encouraging me to continue. "If maybe you wanted to... Drive me and my date there?" I joke with her.

Her face turns into a pout and I burst out in laughter.

She punches me on the arm and yells, "Mason, that wasn't funny!"

I suddenly grab her wrist and and pull her closer to me, my other hand grabs her waist and I intertwine my fingers with hers. I kiss her collar bone first and gradually make my way up the side of her neck, when I make it to her jaw I let the kiss linger for a little before kissing her lightly on the cheek. I look her in the eyes and I see her blush, "Not funny now is it?" I ask her in a hushed tone.

"No, not at all." She answers me, her voice almost too quiet to be heard.

I slowly lean in and press my lips onto hers, my eyes closing when I feel her kiss back. I smile against her lips and everything in my stomach and below fills with butterflies. I pull back to catch my breath and then I lean back in to kiss her, but when I try we are interrupted by a voice from behind us.

"What the hell is going on in here?" The voice yells.

I look over Alice's shoulder and sure enough it's Britney. I let out a sigh and Alice turns her head to look at her.

"Wait until mom and dad hear about this." Britney threatens, a smirk on her face.

"Britney, please no." Alice begs running over to where she is standing, "I'm begging you."

Suddenly Britney's face lights up as if she has an idea, "Ok" she says mischievously, "But under one condition."

Alice nods her head. Britney looks over at me, "Mason has to take me to Homecoming" she finishes with a smirk.

Alice looks back at me with a pleading looks in her eyes and I roll mine then nod.

"Fine I will take you to freakin Homecoming" I tell Britney.

I walk toward the door and give Alice a long hard kiss on my way. She doesn't pull back so I wrap my arms around her waist and she puts one of her hands in my hair. She giggles when I push my tongue between her lips and I hear a cough from beside us.

"Excuse me. You're going to Homecoming with me, remember." Britney says in a snotty voice.

"So? That doesn't mean I like you." I tell her, laughing.

I give Alice a quick peck on the cheek and wink at her and she blushes. I walk toward the door and open it, "Oh yeah, and I'm not wearing a tux" I yell to Britney and slam the door behind me.
