Zane's pov.
I could feel myself waking up but my eyes wouldn't open. I tried with every ounce of energy i could muster and still i couldn't open them.
I felt a soft hand holding mine. I moved my fingers which caused the hand to squeeze tightly on mine. 'Zane?' I squeezed my hand again to ensure her i heard her. Mother.
'Oh baby, my baby boy. Can you open your eyes?' I tried again but was only able to get them half open. 'Oh my God Zane! Honey call the nurse!' She yelled out to probably my father. I finally could get my eyes open the whole way and i saw my mom for the first time in a long time, broken. She was wearing sweatpants and a college sweatshirt. Her hair was up in a messy pony tail, there were huge bags under eyes probably from crying and lack of sleep.
'Mom' I croaked out my voice strained. Tears sprung from my mom's eyes.
'Baby. Im so happy you're awake.'
'Where's Cami? Mom, where's Camille? Have you heard from her? Where's my phone-' she cut me off.
'Baby slow down I will answer your questions but first tell me how you are.'
'I'm fine mom, now answer my questions.' I said angrily.
'Honey you need to be calm down before i tell you anything.'
'Mom your freaking me out, just tell me.'
'You were in a car accident.' I nodded signally I remembered that. 'And you were really hurt, so after your final surgery you fell into a c-coma.' She closed her eyes in obvious pain.
'How long mom?'
She looked up and met my eyes, hers showing heart breaking tears in them. '16 months.' She whispered so quietly i almost didn't hear it.
I gasped. '16 months?'
She nodded letting tears fall down her cheeks. 'You're all healed though, since you're awake they will hopefully let you go home soon.'
I opened my mouth to reply but a blonde haired nurse busted through the door. 'Oh my god, Zane! How are you feeling honey?'
I nodded, 'I'm okay. I'm not in any pain so can I go home?'
'Shortly, we have to run a few quick tests to see if your up to standards to release you. Has your mother informed you of everything?'
'I told him about the coma, not anything else.' My mom interjected. And I snapped my head to her.
'What else happend?'
'Okay well the day of your car accident I was calling you and you weren't answering. I was really worried until suddenly you called me back. But when I answered it, it wasn't you, it was Camille. She went for a run that day and she found your phone, she called me and said you were on your way home. I guess you were with her, I don't know.' I gulped remembering that day, the way I yelled at her. I nodded for my mom to continue, eager to find out the rest. 'Anyway, the next thing I know i'm getting a call from the hospital saying you've been in a wreck and a small red haired girl found you.'
A small smile crept onto my face when I thought of Cami's bright red hair. Wait- 'Cami found me?'
'Yes.. She was running, like I said and came across your car in the woods. She told me that she tried to pull you from the car but she couldn't so she called the ambulance and they came and got you. She was here when I arrived and she had blood, your blood, all over her.' She stopped to close her eyes and take a few deep breaths. 'She helped me a lot, you know? But she saved your life.' She met my gaze.
