Physical beatings affected Poe very little. High pain tolerance had been a must, especially being a pilot flying over enemy territory. It was the things they said.
"No ones coming for you."
"They're better off without you."
"Do you really think they care?"
Every so often something was slipped into the shouting, hitting, bleeding.
"TELL ME WHERE YOU CAME FROM!" The man bellowed into his face, and was going to shout again when a figure Poe instantly recognised as captain Phasma quietly closed the door behind her.

"Captain." The men saluted smartly and the man folded away the spinning, electrified baton he had struck Poe with before leaving.
"So. You're Jakku's resident military man." Her voice was almost liquid, flowed a little too easily. How did she know?
"I can imagine you're quite shocked, but don't panic. I'm not going to say anything. God forbid I tell Ren. He's on his way now. And I'll just say: Prepare a lie." She stood and left, slipping out of the door moments before a completely black clad figure stepped in.

"Tell me where you came from." The man said it before he even reached the chair, and when Poe shook his head he sighed.
"It's a shame, this is in short supply, and it could've been so much simpler." Kylo Ren pulled a syringe from inside his body armour and flicked it, watching the air bubbles pop. He leaned forward and pressed the tip of the needle to Poe's neck before slipping it in and pressing down the plunger. At first all Poe felt was the strange sensation of the liquid flooding his body, then he felt a tug and a sharp pain in his head.
"It's my own creation, one of my best, actually. Light years beyond your comprehension. As they say, intelligence is the greatest weapon." Poe clenched his jaw and ground his teeth, breathing heavy. He only half listened as Ren spoke, the majority of his concentration on the feeling of his brain being explored and his body being manipulated.
"You'll begin to feel a slight," Poe groaned, then screamed, "discomfort."

The mission was approved in record time, and soon after Finn was bundled into the back of the roofless, frame jeep speeding across the desert, a map across his knees.

"Drop me here," his finger rested on the point at the base of the mountains, "I walk through here," he looked closely at the map, "then I enter the facility through the equipment store." He nodded to himself as the vehicle pulled up.
"You be careful in there, kid. We're looking for information, not a fight." Han reminded him, and Finn nodded before slipping the camera, bugs and pen into his fatigue pocket and heading toward the mountains.

"By this time you'll be realising this isn't a normal drug. I created this serum to...motive people to tell me things. Now, I'm going to ask you one question: Where did you come from?"

The path was a lot longer then Finn had thought, and the sun was almost setting by the time he rounded the corner to the facility. There didn't seem to be guards around the entrance to the equipment store, so he quickly slid down the steep hill and slipped through the door, closing it as quietly as possible.

He pulled a jacket on and strapped the body armour around his top half, jumped for a scarf to pull over his head and face, wrapping it so only his eyes were exposed. He fitted the goggles and covered the strap with the helmet before reaching up and grabbing a gun from the wall, composed himself and walked toward the door.

It opened easily, and the soldiers standing by the main entrance only nodded to him before continuing their conversation. Finn quickly built up a mental image of the facility, and made his way past the mess hall, around the quarters, and up toward the unidentified warehouse. He passed by various other soldiers, none of whom paid him any attention until he reached the doors of the hanger. One of the two masked men at the door stopped him.
"What's you're business?" Their voices were mechanical, and they sounded like a character he had seen in a film Poe had made him watch. He stumbled mentally for a second.
"Commander Ren wants an update." The two soldiers looked at each other, shrugged, and typed in a seven digit code into the keypad by the door before stepping aside to let him in.

In the centre of the room one long table ran the length of the hanger, and rows of people sat, eyes down, fingers working with something Finn couldn't identify. He looked around, identified someone he assumed to be in charge, and walked over purposefully.
"Commander Ren wants an update." Finn pulled out his notebook nonchalantly and started to write about what he saw, and what he could see going into whatever was being made.
"Of course." The man picked up a tablet. "The destructive power of the chemical has only increased since following your pointers, but we've stopped changing it in case it becomes to unstable. The explosives are now coming on well. Four, in total, are being made at the moment." Finn nodded passively, like the mans words were nothing but something to be relayed, then spun on his heel and quickly moved out of the hanger and into the thick, black night.

He slipped behind a small building and checked his map, looking for the single room that Rey and he believed Poe could be held in, then realised he was leaning against it. He punched his side, cursing his stupidity, then calmly walked around the walls to the door, where the customary pair of soldiers stood.
"Commander Ren wants to see the prisoner." Finn's heart head beating in his chest so hate he could hear it, and fought the urge to push a hand against his ribs to try and slow it down.
"Okay. Whatever." The soldiers stepped aside, and Finn walked inside, deciding that if he ever ran a terrorist organisation, he would triple security for everything. He looked to his left, and tossed the jacket that were lying on the floor into the centre of the room before turning the light on and untying the semi-conscious figure from the chair.
"Get up. Now." He said, harsh enough that it wouldn't be suspicious if the guards outside heard, then he leaned in closer.
"Get your ass up now, we need to go." Finn paced the room as a confused Poe pulled the leather jacket over his shoulders, and narrowed his eyes as Finn cuffed him, pressed the gun to his chest and started out of the room.

He weaved between buildings, nodding to anyone who passed, until he reached the slope to the path. He all but dragged the other man up and round the corner, desperately moving before they were seen.
"What the hell is going on?" Finn found himself pushed into the canyon wall, Poe's arm across his chest.
"Keep your voice down!" He struggled with the key before unlocking the handcuffs and letting them drop into his pocket. He slung the gun over his back and grabbed Poe by the arm, marching him toward the open desert.
"What is happening?" Poe whispered venomously at Finn, and the man groaned before pulling the goggled up over the helmet and pulling the scarf down to his neck.
"Finn? Why the hell are you out here? It's way to dangerous!" They reached the exit of the path and sprinted across open space to the jeep as its engine revved. As soon as the two young men were safely in the back seats Han floored the accelerator and Finn was rammed into the seat.

"Hold on, boys! Leia would kill me if I lost one of you!" He laughed as the lights of Jakku city became brighter in the distance.
