I got up an half an hour early this morning. I reached for my crutches and hesitated, my armpits hurt pretty bad and I don't want to be tripped over and over again, so I reached a little bit further for my wheelchair.
I wheeled over to my dresser and pulled out a cute top and a pair of jeans with holes in the knees, I pulled out one sock from my drawer and one shoe from the corner.
I searched for some sort of a hat to cover my stitches and was satisfied when I found a hat to put my hair up in. I met Patty out in the kitchen.
"Arms tired already?" She questioned. She had made bacon and eggs this morning with a side of buttered toast.
"Actually my armpits hurt-" I was cut off by my growling stomach.
"Hungry?"
"Starved!" I said excitedly and deeply exhaled but regretted it as soon as I did. I winced and Patty noticed.
"Has the bruising gone down?" She asked concerned as she walked over to me. I lifted my shirt for her to see my beaten up side. She lightly brushed her finger over my rib cage.
"I have to go to the bathroom." I said quickly and wheeled away Before she could say something.
I slowly stood up in the bathroom and lifted my shirt so I could see my bruises. It went from my lower armpit all the way down to my hip, as for the width it went from my belly button to the center of my back. Looks like I won't be wearing a bikini anytime soon.
I came back out and finished my breakfast. I started to wheel myself out when Patty stopped me.
"Would you like a ride to school? I noticed yesterday that the bus doesn't have a wheelchair lift, I think it'll be easier to catch a ride with me." She offered then explained.
"I would like that, thanks Patty."
The ride to school was quiet and long, I was thankful when we parked. I opened the door as Patty grabbed the wheelchair for me. I slowly set myself in the chair and thanked Patty for her help and wheeled away.
All the kids where giving me weird looks, I just ignored them.
My locker just so happened to be on the top half, I could barely reach the dial.
"Need some help there cripple?" I heard an unfamiliar voice behind me. I looked behind me to see a random person looking down at me.
"Why would I need help from a total stranger?" I said with a sassy tone.
"Calm down tiger just asking." He responded slyly.
"I don't need your help and DONT call me tiger." I kept reaching for the dial turning it slightly each time I reached. I heard footsteps walking away but it was hard to tell because of all the teenagers crowding the halls.
"Hey there Leila." A familiar voice said next to me, it belonged to Alex.
"Hey Alex." I said as I looked to my right with a grin plastered on my face.
"Need some help?"
"Unfortunately, yes." I responded with a sigh of frustration.
"Alright what's your combo?" He asked me. I gave him the numbers and he handed me my books. "Do you mind if I wheel you to your first class of the day?" He asked politely.
"Why not, it's Mr. Wycoff"
He winced for me. "That's terrible."
I told him to leave me at the door which he did. Thank god. He held the door open though. As usual I head to the back of the class. To my surprise to girl that was asleep yesterday is now wide awake.
"Hi I'm Alice, I believe we kinda sorta met yesterday as you were walking away, well more like crutching away." She said all bright eyed cheery. Just a little to cheery for an 8 o'clock morning.
"Yes I believe so. I'm Leila by the way." I responded blandly as I set my books on the table.
"Looks like you got some help tiger." A strange voice said from behind me. I flinched only to find that it was the stranger from my locker.
"Leave her alone Jasper!" Alice said in a threatening tone. Jasper, huh. I thought to myself.
Class ended longly after that. "Hey Leila do you mind if I wheel you to your next class?" Alice asked questioning.
"You know I already have someone wheeling me to next class, so maybe next time?" I responded and she just nodded in response. I was actually thankful when I saw Alex next to the door waiting for me.
"Would you be so kind as to push me to my class." I stated and asked at the same time giving him no chance to disagree.
"I would be honored."
"Hey do you know that, uh, ummm......Jasper kid?" I asked him.
"Ah yes Jasper the school 'bad boy.' He's a womanizer, don't go near him."

School was finally out! Thank god!! I went to my locker to put my stuff back when I felt a pair of arms around my side, it didn't hurt until they squeezed.
"Ow! Mother fucker!!" I yelled as my eyes started to water. I heard an 'oh my god' and an 'I'm so sorry I didn't mean to hurt you' come out of Alex.
"Ohh Alex don't do that to me it hurts.""Never again I promise." He said raising his hands serending.
"Can I give you a ride home, since a I hurt you?""Your gonna need to give me a lot more then a ride home mister..." I told him.
"Like what?" He asked with a questions brow as he wheeled me out to his jeep.
"Maybe some.........CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM!"
