False Perspective

Chapter 12

David's POV

Time seemed to go slower just because I wanted it to go faster. I've been looking forward to the movie since yesterday when Jamie agreed to go see it. I was getting ready and Jamie decided he wanted to go to the GYM before going to the movies.

I heard someone knocking on the door and I assumed it was Jamie which was weird because we don't lock the door and he normally just come in.

Don was outside the door and as soon as I opened the door he came in and looked around the room then sat down on a chair that was near the table. This was weird and truth be told, the last person I wanted to see was Don. I closed the door and sat at the table on the opposite side of Don.

"What's up?" I asked curiously.

"I wanted to talk about Jamie." I was trying my best not to glare at Don. I really was trying.

"What about Jamie?" Trying to keep a friendly tone, after all Don was still my friend.

"Do you know if he has a boyfriend or if he likes someone?" He blurted out and then looked at me with brown eyes.

"Why are you asking?"

"I sort of like Jamie as more than a friend and I told him that yesterday..."

"I know that part." I interrupted not really wanting to hear about it.

"He told you?" He asked mortified

"Never mind that just get to your point." I really wanted to get this over with, for some reason I didn't want Don and Jamie in the same room.

He cleared his throat and then said; "When I told him, Jamie just said and I quote, 'It just wouldn't feel right if I started dating you.'"

"Yeah and?" I really wasn't getting the point.

"'It wouldn't feel right.'" He said slowly and raised his voice slightly on 'right' "So that either means he has a boyfriend or he likes someone else."

I then remembered that day when Jamie and I were at the GYM, we were having a blast. I started teasing him, he had fallen on me and we were so close to kissing. What if Jamie has a crush on me? I felt my heart beating faster with the idea of that thought.

Then I remembered what had happened before on that day. Jamie was practising some sort of martial art with the coach and seemed to be a little too close for my comfort. I mean during the lesson the act like they don't like each other and when they were alone they acted as though they've know each other for some time.

Then I also remembered something Jamie said, 'My dad thinks I came here because there are guys here.' Are Jamie and the coach going out? It would explained a lot. Jamie is in the GYM right now, possibly with the coach. That thought made me sick in the stomach.

"Not that I know of." I didn't want to tell him about both of my theorems, the first one could ruin our friendship and the second is well, just plain and creepy.

"Well could you find out, because not knowing the reason is driving me crazy?"

"Yeah sure."

Just than Jamie came in and he was already dressed for the movie. He seemed surprised to see Don at the table but smiled to be polite. He went to his bed, picked up a book and started reading. I noticed Don was staring at him with puppy dog eyes. He finally managed to tear his eyes off Jamie and announced that he should get going. Jamie looked up his book and told him 'goodbye' and 'see you whenever'.

"What was that about?" He asked indicating the meeting I had with Don.

"He just asked me if I knew if you had a boyfriend or if you liked someone because yesterday you said that it wouldn't feel right if you started dating him." I said like it was just everyday news.
