Chapter 5
"Ok..." I muttered. "It seems the current location we'll be teleporting into the edge of the Antarctic. There and the previous portal's location is abou a three-day walk." I put down the professor's machine readings. "You guys ready?" We searched the room and found rope, energy bars, bottled drinks, grappling hooks, a few guns, a machete and many more.
"Looks like all we can prepare for," I said while putting on the thick clothes I found. Dylan and Ashton did the same. "Let's do this, people!"
We went through. The feeling was sensational. It felt like we were floating in a light blue space. As I looked harder, I saw what traveling in time was doing. Everything was going backwards at top speed, soon disappearing altogether. Suddenly, a jolt made us realise we had arrived. Cold air blasted our faces. We were in the Antarctic.
We stared at the white plains soaring into the distance. A beautiful aurora australis danced across the sky like fireworks. I looked at our compass. The needle was spinning around. "Well," I muttered. "This is the South pole, after all." I looked at the readings and the map carefully. "I'm sure it's that way" I pointed out.
They did not answer. "Uh, guys?" I asked impatiently. I turned and saw what they were staring at that stunned them. A 6m long carnivore was staring at us, only 15m away. I instantly recognized the colourful crest on its head.
A cryolophosaurus.
Let me tell you more about it. The cryolophosaurus was a medium-sized carnivore and one of the only dinosaurs to live in the Antarctic. It had an unusual crest on its head that was thought to attract mates. It was a fast and agile predator.
And one was coming straight for us!
