Chapter 6
The cryo roared out a challenge. Ashton threw the machete at it. The cryo simply swiped it aside with its tail. It started chasing Ashton. "Help!!!" he screamed. "I'm to young to die!" Dylan aimed the shotgun at it. Click! He did not know how to fire it. He paled.
The cryo lept at Ashton. Ashton rolled over and it bit the solid ice. It roared in anger. It swiped its tail and knock Ashton aside. He thuddered on the ice and lay still. Dylan grabbed the machete lying on the ice and swung it hard. It chopped of the arm on the cryo clean off.
It screamed in agony. It launched itself at Dylan and smacked him hard. Dylan flew across the ice and hit it. He groaned in pain. It turned its head and saw me. Its eyes narrowed. This was bad.
I searched by bag frantically for a weapon. Maps....Flares.....Ropes...Coloures shirts..... Wait. That gave me an idea. I wrenched out the shirts and plopped them on my head. Then I waited.
The cryo's eyes widened in surprise. It stared at the shirts in my head for a few seconds before bolting away. My plan worked.
After Dylan and Ashton woke up, I explained how I chased the cryo away. "I had this idea. I heard that a lion judges his opponents strength by the size of his mane." I said. "Since my "crest" was twice the size of his, he decided to back off instead of risking a fight. Good thing it worked."
We gathered our belongings and marched on to the edge of the icy wasteland.
