"Holy shit." Brendon whispered from behind Patrick. "Am I crying? I think I might be crying."
Patrick spun around. "What are you doing here?" He whispered back.
"You said you were leaving today. We came to pick you up."
"We?"
"Ryan's in the car."
"Patrick? Brendon?" Pete stood up. He wiped his face and walked over to the door.
"Hey." Brendon said awkwardly. "We totally both just got here."
Pete's eyes narrowed. "Right."
"We just came to pick you up. We're about to head home." Patrick added. Hoping that sounded more believable.
"Meagan's brain dead." He told them in a somber voice.
"I-I'm so sorry, Pete." Patrick tried to pretend he didn't already know.
"Wow." Brendon exhaled. "I thought Satan couldn't die."
"Brendon." Patrick elbowed him in the stomach. "Are you fucking kidding me?"
"Patrick, get his baby bag." Pete ignored Brendon.
Patrick brushed last Pete to snatch up the blue and white diaper bag. They walked side by side behind Brendon. Only stopping to sign out at the front desk. Ryan was parked right in front of the door. They would have usually rode with Jefferson but he was taking some much deserved time off.
Brendon hopped into the front seat of the car. Patrick opened the back door and paused when he saw the small car seat blocking his entrance.
"I got it yesterday." Ryan told them proudly. Opening his door to get out of the car. He walked around to the back. "The salesperson taught me how to strap a baby in and everything." He lifted the blanket wrapped newborn from Pete's hands.
"Um, Ryan?" Pete couldn't hide the worry in his voice.
"One second." He laid him in the seat. Lifting the buckles and pushing them together with a loud click noise. "It clicks when it's done right."
"Look at my daddy being a daddy." Brendon grinned from the front seat.
Ryan lifted his chin. Winking at him as he walked back to the driver's side. Pete closed the door and walked around to the other side of the car. He slipped in and scooted closer to the baby. Patrick got in after him and closed the door.
"So," Ryan pulled off. "How are we all feeling about brunch right now?"
"We can't go to any restaurant with an infant, Ry." Pete reminded him.
"Maybe we could go to one of those trashy fast food places that Brendon and Patrick like."
"Like a Donald's King?" Patrick teased.
Pete glanced over at him and smiled as they shared the memory.
"What the fuck is a Donald's King?" Brendon asked.
"I just want food." Ryan groaned. "I don't care what kind."
"We could order pizza." Pete suggested.
"I don't want pizza." Brendon shook his head. "Let's get sushi."
"Do you even like sushi?" Patrick asked.
"I won't know until I try it."
"We are not stopping for sushi if you don't even know what it taste like."
"Why not?"
"Because what if you hated it? We'd have to go somewhere else." Pete rolled his eyes.
