"Patrick, who's this?" William asked. Staring over at the slightly intimidating man.
"I-uh. This is.. Um-"
"I'm Andy."
"Patrick?" William ignored Andy.
"T-This is my ex." He turned to glare at him. "What the fuck are you doing here?"
"I came to eat lunch." He crossed his arms over his chest. "I didn't think Pete would let you eat as some place like this." He glanced over at William. "But now I'm guessing Pete doesn't know."
"Who's Pete?" William asked. This was becoming a lot.
Patrick glanced at him apologetically.
"My ex."
"You have a few of those huh?" He laughed awkwardly.
"Just two."
"Ex." Andy frowned. "Oh, yeah, that's right. He remarried. Meagan's pregnant now, isn't she?"
"Fuck you, Andy."
"Ouch! Don't be so cruel." He uncrossed his arms. "I've been worried about you."
"I can't imagine why."
"Last time I checked, you were in a coma."
"Why the hell were you even checking?"
"Because, I love you." He rubbed his hand down the side of Patrick's face.
William grabbed Patrick's wrist and pulled him to his side. Away from Andy. Andy smirked.
"Why don't you just leave, buddy?"
"Buddy?" Andy mocked. He faked a laugh. "Patrick what the hell is this?"
"I'm his boyfriend."
The untruthful words slipped easily from William's mouth. But Patrick didn't correct it. Not because he wanted to statement to be true, but because he hoped the lie would push Andy away.
"Boyfriend?" Andy laughed again. It was weird. "Are you fucking kidding me?"
"What's your problem, dude?"
Patrick listened to them exchange a few words. Flashbacks of the day Pete hit Andy filled his mind. He wished Pete were here to protect him now. He honestly didn't know what Andy was capable of anymore. How far would he go?
"Fuck you, asshole." Andy was saying when Patrick zoomed back into the conversation. He glanced over at Patrick. "Can I just talk to you in private for a bit?"
"I don't think that's a good idea-"
"Just for two minutes. I've been really worried, Patrick."
Patrick glanced at William.
"Do what you want." He shrugged.
"You have two minutes. That's it."
"I'll wait for you by the cars." William began walking away.
Patrick stared at Andy. He had a beard now. That was different. Other than that, he looked about the same. He still wore the shorts and a T-shirt. He was still wearing sandals. And he was still fit.
"What the hell are you doing with that guy? He's a joke."
So that's how he wanted to start?
"One minute, Fifty Seconds."
"Okay. Okay! Patrick, how are you?"
"I'm fine."
"I thought you were going to die."
"A lot of people did."
"But I'm happy you're alive."
"Thanks."
"Patrick, you don't have to be so curt with me."
"Okay."
"We've known each other since we were fifteen. You can't just have a fucking conversation with me?"
"No. You've cheated on me since we were fifteen. You broke up with me. You proposed to my best friend. You tried to ruin my relationship. And almost destroyed my wedding."
"So, I've made a few mistakes." He shrugged. "Who hasn't?"
"And your ability to turn mountains into molehills is stunning!"
"Hey, I've changed."
"No, I've changed. And that means I'm over hearing your bullshit."
"Patrick-" he rubbed his arm.
"That car accident taught me who was really there for me in my life. And you weren't one of those people." Patrick snatched away. "Your two minutes are up and I'm leaving." He turned to look for William.
"Wait." Andy yanked his arm roughly.
"What?!""You weren't in a car accident."
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"It was all over the news. Your accident was no accident."
"Do you mean-"
"Someone tried to kill you and Pete."
His heart dropped.
"You're lying."
"No." Andy smiled sadly. "I can't believe they wouldn't tell you that."
Patrick snatched away. "Y-You're lying." He said again. Hoping Andy was going to scream kidding or something like that.
"I'm not." He shook his head. "And everyone knows about it. Just ask them."
"I will."
"I guess you can't trust the people you thought you could, huh?"
"Goodbye Andy. I never want to see you again."
Andy watched him rush off to find his 'boyfriend' in the parking lot. Never wanted to see him again? Ha! He'd see him soon. So so soon.
