Chapter 8: Sam's First Badge Battle

The next day...

Sam's POV

"Ready to go to that museum?" Taurtis asked while he put on his backpack. "Sure." I said while I looked into the mirror. Our parents promised us new clothes when we get to cerulean city. I heard they're clothes more suitable for us! Since we're trainers. "How much does it cost to get inside again?" "50 pokèdollars, come on, the others are waiting for us." Taurtis said while he left the room. I grabbed my two pokeballs and headed out.

Later...

We entered the museum, we paid to pay our tickets of course and we did. When we entered we saw lots of cool and awesome fossils of old Pokemon that no longer exist. "Wow, this is cool." Grian said in awe while looking around. He ran to the fossil of a Kabuto. "It says here that it's a fossil they found on the bottom of an ocean! It's from 300 million years ago!" Yuki stated, reading the information on the Pokemon that was given.

"Cool, that's a really long time! Almost as long as my d-." Taurtis said before he was interrupted by someone in a lab coat. "Are you three Sam, Taurtis, and Yuki?" A girl, with a lab coat like I said, with black hair and blonde tips asked. She was also wearing glasses, like the professor. "Yeah, and who are you?" I asked.

"I'm Okami's aid, and daughter. My names Silly, you'll be seeing quite a lot of me actually. But here, she wanted me to give you this." Silly said while handing us a mysterious box. Could we trust her? She does look an awful lot like the professor, maybe she's telling the truth. "Alright, thanks!" Yuki said while gladly accepting the gift.

"Well that's all for me, I have to go back to the lab now! See you all later." She said while waving at us. "Bye." We waved back. "What is it?" Grian asked her. It was very vague and difficult to tell what it is. But it is a living thing, there's air holes on the top. It moved a little and then we all gasped in surprise. "Open it!" Taurtis said impatiently.

She did as instructed and opened the box. Before we knew it, a little Pokemon popped out and landed on Yuki's arms as she dropped the box in surprise. "It's an Eevee!" I said while laughing. Yuki looked at in glee and then petted the Pokemon as it purred. "Why would prof. Okami give us a Pokemon?" I questioned.

Grian reached into the box and saw a note. "Dear trainers, I've deiced to give you an Eevee to take care of for me! Please record on how it behaves towards things, it has three possible evolutions! Keep in contact with me about her, she's really playful and loves to mess around! Sincerely, Okami." He read aloud while Yuki enjoyed her Eevee. "Cool, new Pokemon! Who's going to care for it?" Taurtis asked.

"Can I, please? I've always wanted an Eevee before but they're so rare!" Yuki begged while we nodded in agreement. "I'll catch up with you guys later actually." I said while leaving the area. "I'm going to go challenge the gym leader, see ya later!"

"Ok, bye Sam." They said in unison as I walked away to the gym... I can do this, I got this!

I was standing in front of the gym, looking at the place in awe. It was time for me to win that badge! I took a quick look at my party. I had Charmader starting me off at level 10. I trained him up pretty good when we were at Viridian Forest. We came across a few bug catchers and while we were there he learned ember. As for Bulbasaur, he too got some training. At the moment he's level 11 and learned vine whip while training. Which will be put to great use here, this should be quick.

I entered the gym and I was greeted with a friendly face. "Hey kid, beware. This guy has some impressive Pokemon, you'll have no chance against him with fire types!" He said, he was an odd individual. He was semi-bald and he was dressed in an agent out fit and he had some shades in his jacket's pocket. "Uh, thanks for the heads up." I thanked him, even though I already knew what to expect.
