Chapter 10

Malik's POV

Its Sunday afternoon and my dad and I just got back home from church, we haven't gone to church as often as we used to after my mom died. Week after week we showed up less and less. I know my mom wouldn't like it but my dad always seemed to be working. At least I hope he was.

I'm glad we went today though because I saw Makayla, the same girl I saw playing ball and planned on talking to after gym class then punked out.

She's a great girl, long brown hair light hazel brown eyes and a great smile. Shes a bit above average height for girls but thats okay, I'm tall. I love her interest, her personality and the way she talks about the things she'd like to accomplish.

We happened to get to know each other a bit during service I don't think anyone of us was paying attention to the sermon. Oh well I usually fall asleep around that time anyway.

After changing out of my church wear and into comfortable clothing I couldn't stop thinking about Makayla but I totally forgot to get her number with her rushing off to go home. So I text an old friend.

I walk out of my room and down the hall as I was about to enter the living room I hear my father talking on the phone.

Went to church, finally talked to this girl I wanted to talk to for a while now, but I feel like I screwed it up..
