Sometimes I really wish I had given Lily, Cara's adorable British accent.
I waited for Taylor to leave before concocting a plan that would get her back for sure. "Sylvia! Go get Petal from the groomers and make sure she's extra adorable, we're bringing her back to her rightful owner." I was going to do everything in my power to win her back and make sure that she would never return to Ebony.
I climb my stairs and scan my bed for Alice, a girl I met at Sandy's party, naked and asleep just like I left her. Being gentle, I tap her shoulder and smile as her green eyes finally open. "Morning dear. There's coffee on the counter downstairs and I've arranged for a cab to be her in ten minutes. Do you think you can make yourself presentable in that amount of time?" I don't wait for her answer before I'm already going through my closet to find an outfit for my day of preparations.
She calls out, "You're just going to send me off in a cab? What has you so busy!"
I find a pair of slacks and a sweater and throw it to my bed. She's already scavenging the floor trying to find a sock and a shirt to meet my deadline. "Love. I'm going to get back the love of my life and that requires intense focus and concentration." I head to the bathroom for a shower and hear her before I shut the door.
"Well, call me if that doesn't work out!" Surely enough there's a note with her phone number on my dresser when I get out of the shower. I add the contact to my phone for future sex emergencies.
(Taylor's POV)
I picked a public place because I knew if we met at my place, she would manipulate and worm her way back into my heart. A coffee shop is safe because there are witnesses and a certain behavior expectation set by society. For once I may be thanking social norms. To prepare for this talk, I smoked a big bowl with Ben and jotted down a quick will on a paper napkin just in case I met my final hour. It had a few important things like: my guitar, vibrator collection, vinyl collection, doll collection, and any other collection that Jamie would probably just take anyway.
I sat with anxiety evident on my face. Being that the only real relationship I've ever been in was with Lily and she broke up with me, the most experience I have in this situation is a mere boot of a woman out of my bed. The waitress sets my espresso down and I tell her to wait for the other person to come before she returns. I need some type of moment to collect my thoughts.
My biggest fear right now is that this is all a game. College Lily is ruthless and cunning and something that I've never seen before- I'm worried this is a joke. It would be like her to promise the one thing I've craved since I lost it and then rip it right out of my hands. I can't lose her love again. Then, I'll be left without anyone just like last spring. I will be nothing.
With my worries and troubles blocking my sense of reality, I barely notice Ebony enter into the shop and kiss me on the cheek. "What's wrong babe, you look like someone died?" She takes a seat and orders a tea from the waitress. I take her hand from across the table and try to form some type of audible sentence, one that gets some type of point across.
Is there cotton in my drink or is it just me? "I- We need to talk." She clasps my hand just a bit, barely noticeable.
"I assumed so. You don't usually ask me to get coffee with you. What is it? Did something happen to your voice again? Is Sloane okay?"
I stop her before she can continue. "Nothing is wrong with me but there is something wrong with us. I know you're not going to like what I have to say but please know that this is really hard for me. I love you so much and really appreciate the time we've spent together. I didn't get clean because I wanted a better life for myself. I did it because I wanted a better life with Lily. She sees now that I am a different person capable of saying no to my past lifestyle and wants to see if we can work things out. Ebony, if I had never met Lily then we wouldn't be having this conversation but she was my life. She was the reason I breathed."
