"Hey! Sandra! Wait up!" Leah called, running up the hall.
"Hey Leah, you excited?" I asked.
"Heck yeah I'm excited! When I get home, we're going to dinner and then my parents are gonna drive me down to City Hall."
"What do you think you're gonna get?"
"I'm hoping for teleportation or something epic like that!" Leah exclaimed as we walked to the bus. "I can't believe I'm finally 18! I mean, wow. Time really has flown by."
"I know, right? I only have 5 more days! What if I get a super awesome power like super stregnth or something like that?" I replied, working myself up. I just can't wait!
"Bye Leah!" I shouted as I got off the school bus and walked to my house. The soft autumn breeze brushed passed me as I walked up Opal Avenue. I reached my door, pulling out my key card and swiping the scanner. The light on the scanner turned green and the latch clicked open. "Mom! I'm home!" I yelled into the house. I walked into the kitchen, finding a note on the table.
Dear Sandra,
Father and I got called to City Hall for business. Don't forget to do your homework and make sure that Kendal actually eats her dinner. There's an extra meal card in the cupboard for each of you, feel free to invite over one friend each. Call me if you need anything.
Love, Mom
Ugh. Another business trip. Of course. Well, I've got half an hour to kill before Kendal gets home. I grabbed my phone and checked for any messages. None. I decided I'd call Patrick, hoping he'd answer.
"Hey Sandy." He said, finally picking up.
"Hey Pat. You wanna come over? My mom and dad are out on business and they left me with an extra meal card. You wanna come?" I asked.
"Sure I'll be right over." He said, chuckling.
"Whats so funny?" I asked.
"Oh, Maddie wants to know if she can come over too."
"Oh great, she's home? That means Kendal can't be too-" I was cut off by the shout of my sister up the hall. "She's here. Yeah Maddie can come hang out with Kendal."
"Ok," he laughed,"we'll be over in a bit. Bye Sandy."
"Bye Patrick." I said, ending the call.
"Sandy?! Mom? Anybody home?"
"I'm in my room. Maddie is coming over, make sure your room isn't a pigsty." I shouted back to her.
"Is your boyfriend coming over?"
"He is not my boyfriend you little turd!"
"Fine, you're friends with benefits."
"I'm gonna get you!" I screamed as I ran down the stairs, tackling her into the living room.
"Sandy and Patrick sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" I covered her mouth, only to be met with a slobbery lick.
"Gross are you some kind of animal?!" I yelled, pinning her to the rug.
"Get off me! Get off of me!!" She shouted.
"Apologize!"
"Never!! Viva la resistance!"
"I'm going to-" the door bell rang. I jumped up and ran to the door.
"Hi Patrick. Hi Maddie." I said, inviting them in. "Let's go upstairs. I can't handle her right now" I whispered to Patrick.
"Ok, lead on." He said, pointing up the stairs.
