We pulled up to City Hall and headed up the stairs. We were directed to a room down the hall from the ball room. Inside, there was comfy looking seat, an IV set up, and a couch for my parents. A man dressed in white invited me to sit, walking over to the counter covered in medical tools. His assistant helped me into the chair. She wiped my arm with a disinfectant, cleaning the area for the IV.
"So, Sandra, we are going to set you up on an IV. Once it is set up, we will inject the serum slowly but surely. We will monitor your body, making sure the serum is working properly and, after about an hour, the serum will have taken hold and granted you your powers."
"Ok" I squeaked passed the nerves. The nurse set up the IV, a needle driving into my arm. She attached various monitors to me, each checking a different functions.
"I'm going to inject the first set of the serum." She said, plugging a vile into the needle on my arm. A shooting pain started spreading through my body. My muscles were sent into a torrent of spasms. A chorus of beeping rang through the room. Black spots started clouding my vision. I heard people shouting commands, the sound of footsteps against the marble floors. The black spots soon overtook my vision, pulling me into a sea of darkness before I slipped out of consciousness.

I am in the forest. There is a river. It sparkled like it was full of a million diamonds. A jet black panther stood in the distance. I walked along the riverbed, hearing the water splashing against a big rock. I stepped on a stick, hearing it crack under my foot. The panther looked at me. It started stalking towards me, bearing its teeth. I started walking faster, faster. I broke out in an all out run. The panther pounced, pinning me to the ground. The cat snarled, closing in for a bite.
I braced for impact, closing my eyes. The pain didn't come. Instead, I was met with a kiss, soft and loving. My eyes fluttered open, seeing the dark green eyes, covered with a small curtain of dark brown hair. He pulled away, his beautiful smile beaming down at me.
"Hey beautiful." He said, his voice quiet and soft.
"Hey Pat." I sighed, staring into his eyes. He moved in for another kiss. His lips brushed mine, gentle at first. He brought himself closer, deepening the kiss. I pulled away, looking at his beautiful face. I cocked my head, smiling at him. "I love you." I said, brushing my hand through his hair.
"I love you too."

I can't move. Visions dance through my mind, taunting me with their beautiful imagery. The world was gone. I am gone. Unreachable. The world moves on without me. I stay still, unaffected by the world. I hear them talking sometimes. My parents take shifts at the hospital. I hear my dad's happy voice sometimes. Other times I don't hear anything. Sometimes my dreams are like reality. Sometimes Pat visits me there. Sometimes I feel like I'm close to consciousness, while sometimes I'm lost in my own mind.
