Chapter 14:
"So Liam's parents had a boy?" Nate asked over dinner.
I laughed, nodding. "Mmhmm.. Lewis. He's so adorable."
Nate smiled. "That's great. And you said he has two sisters already?"
I nodded. "Yup. He's so excited that there's another boy now."
Nate laughed. "Good for him," he said, just as the spaghetti arrived.
"Mmm, this looks delicious," I said, taking a whiff of the spaghetti.
Nate laughed. "It tastes as good as it smells and looks. Trust me on this one," he said, twirling a noodle around his fork.
I did the same and popped it into my mouth. He was right. This was extraordinary! "Mmm! This is so good," I moaned, trying to savour every bite.
Nate laughed. "See? If I had to pick only one thing to eat for my entire life, I would choose this. This is too good to pass up," he said, popping another forkful into his mouth.
"So how did you like the wedding?" I asked.
Nate laughed. "It was fun. I loved the music they played and the dancing. The food was awesome too."
I smiled. "Thank you for coming," I said, patting his hand, which was resting on the table top.
Nate smiled. "You're welcome. I had a great time. Thanks for asking me to be your date," he said, chuckling.
I shrugged. "I wouldn't have asked anyone else!" I said, through a mouthful of spaghetti.
Nate tilted his head to the side, looking thoughtful. "If I couldn't go, would you have brought Liam instead?" he asked curiously.
I nodded. "Yeah but don't worry, you'd always be my first choice," I said, smiling.
Nate laughed as he downed the rest of his spaghetti. "Damn, you don't even like to savour every bite?" I asked, looking at his now empty plate.
Nate laughed, shrugging. "It still tastes good. I also don't like being a slow poke when I eat," he said, gesturing towards my plate which was still full of spaghetti.
I playfully glared at him. "Well, I do so get used to it," I said, slowly putting another forkful of spaghetti into my mouth in spite of him.

After dinner, Nate got out his wallet. I put my hands on top of his, stopping them. "Nope. I'll pay," I said, taking out my own wallet.
Nate shook his head. "No way. You paid last time. Please let me pay," he said, getting out his money.
Just then, the waitress came over. "You guys ready?" she asked, smiling.
"Yes!" me and Nate shouted at the same time, shoving our money in front of her.
The waitress laughed. "So who's paying?" she asked, not sure who's cash to take.
Nate pushed his money closer to her. "Mine," he said.
The waitress let out a small laugh and took Nate's money as Nate smiled at me teasingly. "Fine," I mumbled, defeated.
"Have a nice night," the waitress said, walking away. I frowned. "You could have let me pay!" I said, crossing my arms.
Nate laughed, leaning over the table to give me a peck. "Nope. I'm the gentleman tonight," he said, getting out of our booth.
I followed suit before Nate stopped right in his tracks, holding his chest. He looked a bit dizzy, as he was swaying a bit side to side. "Whoa, are you okay?" I asked, holding my arms out to steady him.
Nate kept silent for a bit before his swaying slowed down and stopped all together. "I'm good," he said, nodding, looking a bit dazed.
I frowned. "Are you sure? What happened?" I asked.
Nate shook his head, taking my hand. "I'm good. It's okay. Just a bit dizzy."
