Daniel and Mason stared in horror at Kate and Lucille. They must have borrowed costumes from the theater! Daniel and Mason remembered Plato's words: A girl will get in terrible trouble if she tries to attend the Olympic Games. Mason shook his head at Kate and Lucille and pointed his finger as if to say "Get out of here!" Daniel shook his head at Lucille and Kate and shook his fist. But Kate and Lucille waved at them again. Then, they turned back to watch the games. "It's not a joke!" shouted Mason and Daniel. "Of course not. We take the games very seriously,"said Plato. Daniel felt his face grow warm. So did Mason. They glared at Kate and Lucille. Just then, the trumpet sounded again. "The chariots are taking their places," said Plato. Mason and Daniel saw dozens of chariots lined up on the race track. Each chariot was pulled by four houses. The trumpet sounded again. The horses took off! The crowd went wild! Clouds of dust rose as the chariots raced around the track. Lucille and Kate were shouting. "Go! Go! Goooo!!"' They were also doing the cheerleader routine from Tolland Middle School, which Lucille's older sister Kara had taught them. A few people stared at the strange small soldiers with their high-pitched voices. Mason couldn't take it anymore. He had to get Lucille and Kate away before it was too late! "We have to go!" he shouted to Plato. The philosopher looked surprised. Mason was afraid to tell him that Lucille and Kate had broken the rules. "We had a great time. But we have to go home now," said Daniel. "Have a safe journey!" called Plato. Mason and Daniel waved and started down the stairs. As he climbed down, he saw Kate pull of her helmet! Her hair flew up and down as she yelled "Go! Go! Go!" Her soldiers cape fell off. Now lots of people were staring at them. Someone shouted for guards. Kate was too busy cheering to notice anything. Daniel and Mason ran to Lucille and Kate. But four big guards got to them first.
